However the actual wall structure that the panel is applied to would need to be able to handle the load. These panels are a veneer - pretty much a cosmetic covering. They happen to have a foam backing layer that reduces vibration, ergo sound dampening. If sound dampening is not your main reason for selecting this product. Maybe consider and actual wood product - bead board, T1-11, shiplap or reclaimed wood. **Q: The refund instructions say to email pictures of the package to make sure its eligible but no where is the email posted to send this. Post for buyers!** A: I had to get a hold of Amazon customer service and then the seller sent me an e-mail. I sent a picture, but then they wanted more picture (because more is better, obviously).
