They’re firm but very flexible. I used them for applying varnish to canvas and they were perfect. No shedding. They are not stiff like a stippling brush would be.

Can I use these with gesso to prepare a canvas?

Great for giving thin soft layers of gesso. I have used them for this and all vanishing too.

Are these brushes too soft or not really suitable for oil painting?

They are soft. They would be suitable for thinned paint.

Which hair brush is suitable with acrylic paints?

Synthetic hair is best for acrylic paints
