## Description

Superlux HD662B Headphones

Review: bargain of the budget? headphone world - have previously been a headphone audiophile in a different life, used to own akg k1000, grado ps1000 and sen hd 600, 800, markl modded denon d5000's, etymotic er4 etc sold all of those a few years back as i got out of the game, so to speak have been using an old pair of sen 555's as my daily cans for movies and gaming, music. after 6 years use these physically broke on one of the arms the other day researched online about bang for buck, as i only now wanted to spend upto £50, as this was an unplanned expenditure due the breakage looked at a lot of headphone reviews in this price bracket, samson and superlux came up a lot, some often a clone of each other, settled on the superlux 662's as this time i wanted to go closed as opposed to the open sen 555's - i wasnt expecting the world at this price, obviously, but knew they offered good value from others comments / reviews received them a few days after ordering through desertcart, via AMP3 seller - ran them for 24 hours straight with isoteks small systems refresher and demagnetizer cd, just to loosen them up and get them run in a wee bit (couldnt wait longer than 24 hours) and boy am i suprised, these are very accurate cans indeed, maybe a bit too accurate for those who like a big warm eq curve inbuilt, i fired up some flac tracks i was familiar with and gave them an airing, some nice extension on the lower frequencies, some of the upper freqs a bit harsh at first, i thought this is either the cans, or me, or both, so percevered for a few days and sure enough this has leveled out a bit, either physically or with me simply getting used to it, now they have a good even representation, still on the lean side comparitively, but i did always like clinical sounding units. funnily enough the biggest showcase of their quality came where i was not expecting it, compared to the sen 555's (a headphone which is approximately 3-4 x the price) was playing BF3, suddenly everything had a solid thud to it, a deep reaching bass impact, even on pistol rounds, or things exploding in the distance, there was like an added dimension to every in game sound, instead of them sounding slightly crisp and short lived as before, now there was a solid, weighty impact to effects and a slight addition to the roll-off duration, what i mean is before a gunshot would resolve itself as just that, a gunshot, and be gone, now the gunshot has a high (the intial noise) and there is a longer section to it, the bass of the reverb of the after shot, which is very nicely manifested via the superluxes, its hard to explain but it gives more texture to all the sounds and makes it sound more quality all round and not so shallow and crisp - adds a weight to everything which is nice - normally music would be the area which i would see differences between cans, and there is, but here it was a pc game off all things which highlighted the superior capabilities over the much more expensive sennheisers. am very pleased with the purchase, and now knowing these are available for £25, anytime in the future, well sennheiser have lost me as a budget headphone customer from now on, these are more in the realm of the sen 650 bracket i would suggest (from notoriously poor audio memory) - the sen 600's probably pip them (as i always did prefer the sen 600's to the 650's) the isolation is excellent, as is the build quality, nice fat comfy pads in a leatherette type material, self adjusting band within frame type form factor, nice clamping force (not too much) i would stick my neck out and suggest if you have less than £150-£200 to spend on a full size of closed headphones, you wont beat these. try them, i was always a bit of a brand snob, but having these superlux make me feel like i am having the last laugh :) p.s. seeing as this review was hastily bashed out after only 3-4 days of ownership, i am hoping the usual 300 hour plus rule will yield even further refinement and settling in...
Review: Good sound quailty - I bought these as I wanted some headphones of a closed back design so I could listen to music "mostly jazz" and to cut out the background din of our noisy household, I have several pairs of mid price range Senheiser "open back" in the house, and can tell you these blow them out of the water! The sound is so detailed and clear the bass tight not wooly or boomy, they create an amazing sound-stage, an absolute bargain at £27 they compete with the well known makes in the £70-£100 price range, and are designed to look similar to the AKG K271 AKG K271 MKII Circumaural Studio Headphones headphones. the only drawback for me is they feel very tight on my fat head.

## Features

- High Quality Dynamic Drivers
- Precision fitted acoustic camera
- Accurate and detailed sound
- High efficiency and wide dynamic range
- Durable structure.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Used for 22+ months. Pretty solid, quite a long cable for some, audio quality generaly very, very good for price range.
*by J***S on 20 December 2017*

I'm happy with these. Arrived in Jan 2016 and have been more than content. Only the expected wear around the usual areas to speak of despite frequent use (travelling around, through airports/stuffed in bags etc). Nothing's managed to break, sound is still strong/insulated, so they're doing well. I have broken (as people do) a couple of pairs of earphones in that time. These have been stood on (as previously instantly broke my headset straight in half, in 2009 or so... you'd think I'd have learned), but these survived with a little inconspicuous bending/marking. I can't compare them with the top-end stuff re. bass/clarity through my personal experience, but nothing else I've bought in the price range (or lower) of any kind has been as good. I've heard they outperform certain -ahem- "trendier" brands based on others' comparisons (though that's hearsay). I would happily buy again to stick on my head and listen to music for a couple of hours in a go -- hopefully with as good a product a second time. The fit is quite tight for some (I don't have a large skull, regardless of ego) and occasionally gets uncomfortable/too high a temp inside etc. after a few hours. You won't be annoying people nearby without cranking the volume to the higher levels. Bass is ok. TL;DR Pretty comfortable, not overly heavy but not light, no complaints on sound quality, good durability and a good price.
