This book gives me hope...
My husband just started beekeeping this year (2010) and although our bees are not producing any excess honey yet, the information in this book gives me hope that I will be able to do many wonderful things with the honey our bees make (once we get some!). In the meantime, there are other techniques and recipes in this book that I would like to try. I love the information about the beauty creams, soaps, and essential oils. I'll totally be trying these!!!

The Book of Honey
This is the second book that I get about Honey. This one is by all means one of the best books on honey. I am a fan of honey products, and everything honey. When this book arrived, I loved it from the start, because it has the most phenomenal photographs, and things that you can do with honey. Includes pages of history, and then make up, and food, and other things that you can do using honey products. Simply wonderful book for any person who loves honey like me.

Mixed feelings
The recipes are unappealing and obvious, her natural remedies and preparations I've read elsewhere and on the net, I'm giving it 2 stars only because the remedies are good and work, but other books are better than this.

A Real Treat
This a a quality book. I love honey and for the past 18 months have taken it every day in hot water with a slice of lemon and fresh ginger root. Last winter was the first winter I did not catch a cold or suffer from a throat infection of some kind. Coincidence? Maybe? The book contains beautiful photographs on every single page. The first chapter starts off with a history of honey and bee keeping, an overview of honey production and honey products and ends with a discussion about the different types of honey. I had no idea just how many varieties there are... Cotton, rubber or sunflower honey anyone?Chapter two looks at the medicinal properties of honey, ancient and modern remedies, with recipes for a good night's sleep, digestive aid and stress relief. There is even a section about therapeutic bee stings... The squeemish need to look away when they get to page 35...Chapter three looks at using honey to make some lovely natural beauty treatments, for your skin, hair, lips and nails.Chapter four covers uses for honey in the house and garden, such as beeswax and honey soap, polish, candles, wax crayons for the kids and even a honey fly trap. Finally, chapter five rounds off with some delicious recipes using the precious golden liquid, such as creme fraiche and honey ice cream, honey relishes and dressings, marinades and glazes. The book is quite large and contains 94 beautiful pages. It is a joy to dip in and out off and there is always something new to discover. I still marvel at how much information about honey is contained in this book. An excellent purchase that would also make a lovely gift.
