From the tip of the blade to the longest point of the handle these measure approx. 218mm

I've been trying to find a reasonably priced pair of general purpose Scissors that do not snap in two on cardboard? Are these really suitable?

They are good. These are the second pair of Victorinex scissors I have because I thought the first ones were excellent. However they haven't lasted i.e. been as sharp as I feel they should over the couple of years I have had them. I've only had the most recent pair for 8 months and so far so good. So jury out but they certainly won't snap on cardboard and are superior to other brands I've tried in the middle range. I am considering splashing out on a really expensive pair to last indefinitely. You pay for what you get.
