Can it be cooked on the stove top or fies it require a specific type of pan/cooker?

Hi there, yes you can cook it using any regular method that you use to cook rice. It is a whole grain so it takes a little longer than fully polished white rice. Soaking it for a couple of hours helps. Even better if you can soak it overnight.  If you are using a electric rice cooker, you can use the brown rice setting that pre soaks the rice. Here is a simple recipe to try on a stove top open pan.  Hope this helps.

1 cup Karuppu Kavuni Rice
3 cups of water 
1 tbsp ghee or oil or butter 
Salt to taste
Roasted cashews for garnish (optional)
Instructions:

Rinse the Karuppu Kavuni Rice in cold water and drain. Soak it with just enough water to immerse the rice for 2 hours (you can choose to do it overnight to bring down the cooking time). Drain the excess water before cooking (you can add a little salt and mint and this water becomes a great health drink).

In a medium-sized pot, add the rice and water (water ratio should twice that of rice). Bring the water to a boil. Once the water boils, lower the heat to a simmer and cover the pot with a lid.
Let the rice simmer for about 30 minutes or until the water has been completely absorbed and the rice is cooked through.
Once the rice is cooked, turn off the heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Add ghee or oil or butter to a small pan and heat it over medium-high heat.
Once the ghee or oil is hot, add it to the cooked rice and mix well.
Add salt to taste and mix again.
Garnish with roasted cashews, if desired.
Serve hot and enjoy!
