Mavala Stop 10ml - Discourages Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking For Children and Adults, Transparent

This product has really helped me. I have been a nail/skin biter my entire life and it's a disgusting habit I've always wanted to change but found difficult as I bit my nails as a coping mechanism. As soon as I started using this product from day one I completely stopped. The taste is so bitter it really does put you off putting your finger anywhere near your mouth. The bottle is small but lasts a very long time as you only need to really apply it once every 4 days or so and even a small amount per nail will work. It does have a couple of downsides but easy to deal with. First is that I'm a man and it does make your nails a little shiny which is embarrassing but if you apply it the night before it should dull while you sleep and be more discreet. Secondly if you cook or eat with your hands you will get the taste on the food/in your mouth so make sure to use utensils where you can or get (disposable) gloves that are suitable for food handling. Overall though I still give the product full 5* since it is very effective at what it's advertised to do.

This product was fantastic. Our daughter stopped sucking her thumb within 3 days. We only had to use it once. Couldn't remcommend it more for those who are trying to encourage their children to stop thumb sucking.

I’ve been biting my nails since I was 7 years old. I take medication for anxiety, and I’ve tried using fake nails, but since I didn’t have a proper base to stick them on, the glue caused an allergic reaction. My fingers became itchy and developed pus, so I didn’t know what else to do. This is the first time my nails have grown long enough to reach the tips of my fingers. This product, despite being unpleasant, works amazingly well. Even after washing my hands multiple times a day, taking showers, and scrubbing my hair with shampoo and conditioner, the product stays on. It’s incredibly bitter—very, very bitter. The smell is typical for nail polish. I absolutely loved this product

I've been a biter for 45 years or so. To the point where I remove 90% of the nail. It's unsightly, sore and now because of covid, dangerous. So, I need to stop. This product has some really good reviews, so I decided to give it a go..... It works..!! I'm actually growing finger nails.. I've been using it for about 3 weeks. However, couple of days ago I had a relapse. This stuff lasts for about 3 days even with hand washing, bathing, washing up etc etc, so I got a little lazy and didn't apply every day as I had been. So, apply every day, its part of the deterant. If you get this stuff in your mouth it's tastes vile. As it should, but, the taste stays in your mouth for a long time. It taints everything, food, water, tea, everything. The only down side for me is this, it taints everything you touch too. I know that I bite the skin around my fingers too. So I painted the whole of the front of my fingers. But, it transfers to anything even remotely moist ie, sandwiches, fruit, crisps, even pistachio nuts.

We have tried one other product and had some success with it, but then something happened in nursery and my 3 year old decided that she will go back to sucking her thumb. We left it a while and then tried this product. Its clear that the taste is awful, but it doesnt last as long for us as for other people (we had to apply it twice a day to have any effect). My daughter however quickly realised that if she sucks her thumb and doesnt swallow the saliva, she doesnt feel the awful taste. So she spits it out and puts her thumb back in :( I would definitelly give this product a shot if you are trying to stop nail biting/ thumb sucking.

Got this for my husband and it worked so well. It lasted a few days in his nails as well as the taste which helped him to stop biting his nails. Also made eating finger food a but tricky as couldnt lick fingers without getting the taste in his mouth but was all worth it.

Deterrence of taste does not last more than 2 handwashes.

I am a cuticle biter instead of a nail biter, and this has helped me tremendously. It dries fast when applied and the bitterness lasts for over a week until it needs another application. When it's removed, the bitterness can linger on your nails for several days so be warned. I do find that after a few days, the nail polish itself begins to chip and crack, however that's just an aesthetic complaint. It is incredibly bitter and can leave you with an aftertaste that is difficult to remove from your mouth. Even picking at my lips with this stuff on can warn me to stop. However, be careful when eating with your hands as this can carry onto the food itself. Regardless, an amazing product, it will help even the most chronic biters.

"Taste the Mavalaaaa!" is what my husband screams when he accidentally puts his nails in his mouth. He is a chronic nail biter who always gnaws his claws down to the quick, and so he's never had the white show on his fingernails before. After using Mavala every day for a couple of weeks, his nails were long enough that he actually needed to cut them with clippers! I was ecstatic! But wait! There's more! It's not just a temporary fix. After those weeks of regular use, he had become completely conditioned (read: disgusted) to stop biting his nails, even once we ceased applying the Mavala. It forced him to acknowledge his subconscious habits, and the bitter taste was unpleasant enough to deter him from idly biting his nails. Truly the miraculous cure you've been needing for you or your loved one's nail biting! More about this product: It comes in a nail polish-style bottle with an applicator brush in the cap. It also applies much like a clear coat nail polish, not like a thin liquid, as I originally thought it would. As such, it adheres to the nail like a glue, making it pretty difficult to wipe, lick or wash off by accident (or on purpose, muahaha). You need to use only a little bit, on the edge of your nail (if you're a biter). One application will last you the entire day, sometimes a little into day two. My advice for success with this product: Just remember that any bad habit dies hard. We purchased Mavala several months ago and stopped using it when my husband stopped biting. He went several bite-free months, but since then, times have been stressful at work and he occasionally relapses into nail-biting. If this happens to you, immediately go back to Mavala! Always keep it handy. Put it in your desk at work or keep it in your purse or car. Just remind yourself how horrible it tastes! You're much better off with this stuff to help you stop chewing. Also try applying it earlier in the day, before you go to work/school/places where you tend to bite your nails the most. Avoid eating finger foods and touching your lips (or at least be very careful)! Popcorn, pizza, sandwiches, etc. are a nightmare to eat with Mavala on. Even if you are behaving, the flavor tends to rub off on anything you touch. My husband has even given me a hello kiss after a long day at work where he struggles with biting his nails. Even THAT brief contact transferred the taste of Mavala to my lips, blegh! All that being said, I cannot testify to any of its other uses (such as to deter thumb sucking), but I do highly recommend it to anyone with a nail-biting problem. Be consistent, have the discipline to apply it every day, and correct yourself when you catch your bad behaviors. You will have healthy nails in no time! :)
