A good quality product at a reasonable price.
Bought this pump to replace an identical one that had failed and the manufacturer would not honour the warranty. It was bought to circulate the water in a 500 gallon paddling pool. As a pump and filter it does the job just fine, it is quiet and economical to run. I recommend that the filter is cleaned on a daily basis with a hose jet. The first one failed well within it's warranty period after very little use, I had failed to keep a record of who I had purchased it from or how much I had paid for it and the Manufacturer, Bestway refused to honour their warranty. For the moment this pump has functioned as expected and is about to be decommissioned for the winter. Overall the pump is of good quality and a reasonable buy.

Effective
This was very straight forward to fit to my 8ft Bestway Fastset pool. I had been treating the water with a floating chlorine dispenser - which was good - but the algae still grew. The filter has changed this. I suspect the circulation of the water assists the even distribution of chlorine. The water has remained clear since installing the pump. I have it on a timer so that it runs for a total of 12 hours out of 24 - but this is in 2 or 3 hour blocks throughout each day. UPDATE: After a few days, air was entering the system through the base of the pump. Turns out there is a threaded ring holding the motor in place that had come a little loose. Tightened it and the bubbles have gone. Have also found that the flow rate reduces significantly in 24hours. Taking the cartridge out daily and blasting it with the garden hose to clean restores the flow rate to something more decent.

Good Pump - But Be Mindful of the Size of Your Pool
*** Review for the 1249 l/ph model*** I bought this filter pump this year, at the same time I upgraded my daughter's usual Bestway inflatable paddling pool to a Bestway Pro 9.1ft rectangular steel-framed pool (I think it may have come up as an 'other people also buy this' recommendation on putting the pool in my basket). This is the first year we have had a pool that is a more permanent fixture and needed a filter/chemical treatment (still a lot less work than emptying and refilling a 10ft inflatable pool every two to three days though!) so I am still a bit of a newbie at all this - but learning fast! The instructions to put together the pump were minimal but on looking at the parts and picture on the box, fairly self-explanatory. Our new Bestway pool has two rubber outlets to attach the filter tubes to. Be aware that not all Bestway pools have these outlets built in - I think only the steel-framed and fast set ones do, so if you have an inflatable pool (like we used to) you will have to run the pump with both tubes, unsecure, over the the top lip of the pool. You get a fair length of the flexible tubing with the filter pump so this is do-able, as long as you do it when no kids are using it. After a couple of days, a big clump of dried grass was spat out into one of the filter tubes ... but this was just after I'd had five 8-year-olds and one toddler having the time of their lives in the pool all afternoon. After that, I removed the inner filter cartridge and ran it under the tap to clean it a little. Obviously you can buy inner filter cartridge replacements but I am not going to change it every couple of days! (FYI, this model takes the Size 1 type) The only time I do not have the filter running at the moment is at night - it goes on early in the morning and gets turned off maybe 7pm - so I run it for 12 hours most of the time. We still get quite a bit of bits and bobs laying on the bottom of the pool though, despite daily skimming with a net. I have also purchased a pool 'vacuum' to help with this (which I am yet to try out) and I am considering getting a pool skimmer contraption that clips on the side of the pool and works with the filter ... although I have come to the realisation that this 1249 l/ph pump is probably not powerful enough for our 9.1m pool. I have just ordered the powerful 3028 l/ph model as a replacement. This 1249 l/ph filter pump is probably fine for any pool under 7ft and don't get me wrong - it's not totally ineffective in our 9.1ft one - but a larger pool definitely needs a more powerful filter pump. If you have a fairly sizable pool, don't try to save a few £'s by getting this one over the larger-capacity versions as you will end up like me - initially paying for this one then have to shell out for a more powerful replacement.

Ok as a support for keeping your water clean
I bought this pump to assist with keeping our 8ft pool water clean for the summer holidays. The pump was quiet straight forward to install and set up but requires quite a tight fitting to the filter connections on the pool itself. The pump comes with twist tightening screw clips but I would suggest using additional zip ties to ensure there is no leakage from the pool and elephant tubing; otherwise you’ll have a puddle of water around the base of the pool, despite ensuring that the clips are in the correct position. We have had the pump running for several hours when the pool is not in use, but that’s just our preference, and it can be left on at all times when in use. However I am still finding hairs/ dirt clumping at the bottom of the pool which I keep having to fish out. I’m going to try leaving in on whilst we are in the pool to see if it makes a difference at all. However, I’m not entirely convinced that it does a great job as a stand alone item to remove floating “bits”. You are still obviously required to fish out leaves, larger blades of grass and flies that get in the water, with a mesh. Flying ant season is a nightmare and it seems that the pump does little to help here. I would suggest using additional cleaning products as well as the pump, such as multi function chlorine tablets and a float, a decent pool cover and a fishing mesh to keep the water hygienic. This is simply because (in my mind) your water is only as clean as the filter inside the pump. Also you will want to reduce the possibility of algae growth, after filling your pool for 4/5 hours, only to end up having to change the water again. The filter is easy to remove and cleaned off by rising and spares are easy to come by on amazon. Overall, ok as a supporting cleaning addition, but I’m not convinced it’s an essential purchase. A good cover, a fishing mesh and chlorine tablets will work just as well, without having to spend X amount on a small pool pump.

Works well, can tell by how dirty filter becomes!
Bought for a steel frame bestway pool, which already included the inlet and outlet holes. Had it fitted within 10 mins worked really well, can see the water moving through the pump and filter(included with pump) getting very dirty ad hairy. Water in pool is now 5 days old and still usable, albeit a little cloudy, miles better than before when we had to change water every 2 days. Occasionally if air got into the pump, mainly as the kids swirled the water around so much the inlet was exposed, I had to let it out with the air valve on the top, aside from this the pump has required zero effort. I did rinse the filter out daily. more out of interest, and will now purchase some more. Can definitely recommend

Buyer Beware...sounds good but read before purchase you decide!
Purchased at end of July 2017 used a couple of times not everyday and has now stopped working. Pump when working does what it should and not bad job but do expect for it to work for longer than 4 weeks. To say disappointed is an understatement. I am now in the process of contacting the seller to return item under guarantee. Sometimes buying form a shop is best and this is one of those occasions. Instead of walking or driving to a shop i now have the rigmarole of e-mails back and forth, arranging collection etc and that's if they decide they can help.Anyway got 2 business days to wait for reply .

Does what its ment to
Absolutely fantastic. Did have an issue with the pump leaking but that was down to the blue connector at the top not being tight. Once that was tightened it worked great. I have just started using chlorine tablets to clean the pool of algae, and it worked a treat. I have already cleaned the filter with fresh water from the hose and it is still running great. I had the pump/filter on for about 4 hours and it cleared 99% of the dead algae. My pool is only 7 ft long 2.5m wide and it works well.
