Happy to find same product as previously used. My last Kidde smoke alarm was installed 27/7/2015 and lasted until 06/11/2025. The new alarm was delivered promptly on 7/11/25. I was able to fit the replacement into the existing ceiling fitting, so 10 second job. Highly recommended.

Does the job

My old one started to make funny noises. My local ironmonger didn't stock them so I went online. This is exactly like the old one so I didn't need to replace the base part attached to ceiling. Remarkably easy.

Good quality and easy to fit

Purchased Nov 2023 and installed immediately. Initially all seemed well. However from Spring 2024 I was getting an occasional spurious alarm. These events gradually became more frequent and are now occurring daily, sometimes on multiple occasions. This morning I was woken in the early hours by the alarm sounding 4 times ( 4 bursts of three blasts). There was no reason for an alarm. It has gone off again while I have been writing this review ! I did not remove the plastic tags when I installed it and so will be able to easily remove the unit when required (which might be much earlier than expected !). I would advise others to do the same. I should add that the detector was mounted in the exact location of the previous smoke detector, which I inherited with the house. This worked flawlessly for a number of years requiring only a change of battery. I would have replaced with an identical unit but these were no longer available. Since writing the above this morning the detector has gone off twice this evening. On the second occasion I was unable to hush it or stop it. I had to remove it and "hush" it outside. All in all a very poor product. I purchased a known brand expecting the quality to be good but this appears not to have been the case.

This is my second Kidde smoke alarm. The battery in the previous one lasted the full 10 years.

For the price, this alarm looks fine but took me over an hour to get it fixed in place. The screws supplied are too flimsy and weak - had to throw them away after the heads got too stripped screwing them into a beam - which took forever to get back out again. Once the base plate was attached, found that there was only one way to get the alarm to fit on - putting it on upside down (ie with the brand writing facing the wrong way). However, that doesn’t matter for me as it’s in a loft, but I’d be annoyed if it was to be located in a more visible part of the house.

Ne ho comprato due, uno per il piano terra l'altro per la taverna. Dopo qualche mese l'alarme del primo si è staccata sensa motivo. L'ho scambiato con l'altro è dopo qualque mese, stessa storia. E' garantito 10 anni ma non ho fiducia in una eventuale riparazione o anche in uno scambio merced. Ho cercato un'altro rilevatore è ho notato che tanti consumatori hanno avuto lo stesso problema anche con modeli a batteria a durata di un anno.

Se nota que es un producto de calidad, bien terminado y muy facil de instalar. Lo que mas me convencio para comprarlo fue la duracion de la bateria, que en teoria es de 10 años y la garantia por el mismo periodo. Cuando se acaba la pila hay que desecharlo y poner uno nuevo, pero que si dura la mitad de lo que promenten ya me doy por contento. Imprescindible para casa. Me dedici a comprarlo junto con un detector de monoxido de carbono de la misma marca, ya que tengo estufa de leña en casa y lo veia necesario para prevenir incidentes. Tiene un boton de prueba para comprobar el funcionamiento de vez en cuando, aparte de luces led que indican el funcionamiento correcto.

Envoi très rapide J'ai pris ce détecteur pour remplacer à l'identique celui de ma mère. Bon regret de ne pas avoir une notice en français oj bien en anglais désolée je ne comprends pas l'allemand. J'ai du contacte le service client du constructeur pour la mise en marche merci à eux pour leur retour rapide. J'ai fait remarquer pour la notice et la j'ai appris que ce n'était pas eux les vendeurs (car les produits vendus par leurs revendeurs ont bien une notice française) pour mon article mais un revendeur. Reste à esperer que la durée de vie de 10 ans sera respectee
