IT FITS! It’s the extra-extra wide athletic shoe!
If you have been looking for a wide-enough, comfortable shoe since Keen changed their lasts, look no further! This is five-star quality fit, comfort, and quality. After a very long search, this shoe seems to be the only good replacement. Now you can stand on your feet and walk several blocks again.

Oh my gosh!!
I am 49yrs old, 6'4", 330# w/ 14w feet - so a big guy for sure. I have very high arches and resultantly achy feet. I have been searching my entire life to find comfortable shoes that actually fit my feet. The search was recently renewed upon a visit to the pediatrist who after an x-ray said, "wow, that's the biggest bone spur I have ever seen". That statement does not lift your spirits at all. So he gave me a cortisone shot (which was painful but awesome) and an arch support to wear. The arch support was okay, but still pain after long days.So back to the shoe review. I spent many hours searching for "high arch shoe" reviews on youtube. Several brands came up, but Brooks Ghost 13 just seemed to keep coming back to me. So the Amazon reviews were good and I decided to try it out. Came in within a couple days. Stuck them on the first time and it was "oh my" they fit and feel great! It was like stepping into a cloud. Next day at work was very active - probably 5hrs of straight walking and standing without a break. Then it dawned on me that my feet did not hurt. This was like first time with no pain in years - literally. I have had them going on a week now and I actually find myself wanting to run and I have no idea why. Must be the pedigree of the shoes. Time will tell how they hold up, but for now life is good again.Pros:The foot beds are wide for my oversized feet! The insole material is very nice and padded but still supportive - perfect combo! The high arch support actually supports my big arch. The padded heel cup lands your heel perfectly and softly. The outer mesh is very breathable and cool - great for summer.Cons:The tongue material is very soft and limber which makes it more difficult to slip on - which is my normal way. Now must tie them daily - which I should do anyway - I guess. No pull tab at heel to pull them on.Mesh outers - I suspect they will snag and tear easily - not confirmed but suspected.Breathable mesh outers - may be cold on feet in winter - again a suspicion not confirmed.

Comfortable shoe.
Wear them for a 10 hour shift on concrete. Had them for over a year. Made my feet and back feel better.

Amazing shoe from a runner who knows shoes... but..
This is a superb shoe. I run about 20 miles a week at this point. I'm 50. It fits my 13AA foot pretty well. The support is all there. I have one foot dealing with plantar fasciitis and some ankle issues. I run between 6:30- 7:30 minute/mile always. I am a forefoot/midfoot runner mostly running on pavement and sometimes dirt or trails. I LOVE these shoes. I gave up on Asics a while back. I have finally found my replacements.NOW, after three months here are the problems. Both of the heel cup's fabric wore out quickly. I hate that. I am currently slowing some of the degradation down with fabric athletes tape, but it's irritating to have to do so. I have also noticed that the front cushioning is a bit soft. On gravel roads I can feel the rocks at times. Not a biggy, but still a bit surprising.

Why must shoe manfacturers constantly change things?
For the past few years I've run in Ghost 11's and I absolutely loved them. The best running shoes I've ever had. But of course shoe manufacturers are constantly "innovating" (or something) and they have to constantly tamper with success. These shoes are still pretty good, but I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 (which I would give the Ghost 11's with no reservations) for two reasons:1. The tongues. They protrude at the top a lot more than the old ones, and kind of dig into the front of my ankles. Why??? Also the old ones had a second loop to thread the laces through to really keep the tongue in place as you run. I loved that feature, and it's gone here.2. The insoles. This is very subjective and a bit hard to define with any certainty, but these feel less springy and cushioning than the insoles that came in the 11's. Part of what I loved so much about the Ghost 11's was how they almost made me feel like I was being launched forward as I ran, vs. pounding the ground. That seems to be missing here. I should probably note that, so far, I've only run in these on a treadmill, not outside. ('Tis the season; I live in Minnesota and got these in the winter.) But I've also run with my 11's on the treadmill, so I think it's a reasonable comparison regardless.

A GREAT shoe for "neutral" runners
I am an older runner, who runs 100 a month. Brooks is a great shoe if you are a 'neutral', runner. That means you have a basic stride with litter over or under pronation. (Your foot rolls one way or the other as you run.) Everyone does a little bit - if your running stroke rolls a lot you might need a shoe built for that. (A trip to a good running store and they can help.)I used to save money on hoes. There were two problems with that. I had significantly more injuries. And the cheaper shoes wore out faster.I like the Brooks Ghost for several reasons. It does not have a tight toebox. The cushioning is good and feels comfortable. They hold up as well as any quality running shoe.Good traction for basic running.Nice upper, and holds up well.I do admit that I have a bias. When I think of THE popular brand it just seems to me that the ultra-rich shoe endorsement money for pro-athletes makes me wonder how much of the cost of the shoe goes to the endorsement. So if I pay the same price as my Brooks as for the shoe with the big endorsements it makes me think I may be getting a shoe with more money spent on the actual shoe.I don't know that's true. But it makes sense to me. BTW - I have no connection with Brooks. I'm just an experienced runner who is sharing my experience and thoughts.

Not Durable
The media could not be loaded. The shoes have torn within 6 months of use. It is not something a customer would expect after paying this much for a shoe.

Perfect
No complaints. Fits great, consistent with previous ghost models, and what feels like decent lacing improvements. Great cushioning and comfort.

Overrated
No way I give the shoes more than one star. I returned the shoes... Cannot understand why there are so many good reviews online.
