Review: Strong quality galvanised wire (worked to hold out the squirrels!) - I bought the Galvanised Coated Garden Wire to attach to mesh wire that I wanted to place over an air vent pipe at the top of our building. We had an issue with squirrels getting inside through the pipe, so I needed a reliable solution. This wire is very strong and worked perfectly alongside the mesh wire I purchased to accompany it. It held everything securely in place, and I feel much more confident that the squirrels won’t be able to get in anymore. If you need a strong wire, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this one.

**Q: Is the 2mm wire rope strong enough for a grape trellis? After some years, any problems with it?**
A: You will need to determine the tensile strength you require for a grape trellis and ask the manufacturers for their product's mechanical properties to see if there is a match.
I have used it to hold outside lights between trees and has been OK with just a little elongation in high wind.

**Q: Can I use this as a stake for supporting orchids?**
A: I don’t know anything about orchids in particular, but I should think one can use this wire as a support for plants that are not too big and heavy.

**Q: Is it strong enough to espalier your fruit trees?**
A: Substantial gauge wire - would expect it to be strong enough. Easy to bend & use.

**Q: Is this actually 12 Gauge wire, as i'm wondering if it would be possible to make fairy wings with it ?**
A: I measured the wire and it’s 14 Standard wire gauge.  It is 1.946 mm diameter.  Whether it can make fairy wings would depend on the size and weight of the wings which you do not state. If it’s for fitting to a small child it would probably do.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Just The Right Thickness

I use this wire with vine eyes to create an almost invisible trellis for plants to climb up. I use two pairs of pliers – one to keep the line taut while I use the other to twist the end of the wire tightly, to secure it. It's just the right thickness to last for many, many years even when supporting heavy plants. After a couple of years it starts to dull a bit, but that just makes it blend in more with the wall or fence behind it. The only downside is that you have to be more careful if you happen to be using a hedge trimmer near it.
