May work for you; didn't for me.
At first glance, this product looks well designed, well engineered and well produced. The reality for me is, sadly, far from good. It may well work superbly well for some combinations of device and car, but for me it was nothing other than a waste of money (fortunately only about £10 or £11 at the time)My car is a 2003 BMW 3 Series Coupé (E46) and I wanted the holder for an iPod Classic plugged into the front AUX connection of a DAB radio. My first choice of mounting was using the air vents. Maybe my iPod Classic is too heavy for the mount (I doubt it, though), but it only took a couple of corners or a mini-roundabout for the mounting and the device to go flying across the cabin! Next I tried the suction system. One pothole later and things were flying everywhere (whilst my old Navigon SatNav, which weighs 3 grams less than the iPod, stayed securely stuck to the windscreen!!!). I tried a few more times, in case I hadn't used the suction cup properly, but any jolt from the road surface would see the device and holder fall from the windscreen. As for the sticky base for attaching to the dashboard, that fell off even before I'd attached the device! So my recommendation is to buy with caution and only when heavily discounted. This device may well be perfect for your car and device combination (as can be attested by other, more positive, reviewers here). On the other hand, there are more than just a few of us who have found this holder to be utterly useless.

Three ways of mountingānone of them work well
The holder certainly grips hold of the phone tightly. Too tightly perhaps, as it can be difficult to get the phone in and out of the mount at times. What's more, on my phone (Sony Xperia Z3 compact) the grip pressed hard against the volume control, making it difficult to mount the phone without inadvertently changing the volume, and difficult to change it back again once mounted. But this is the least of the problems. The holder comes with two different fixing attachments. The first, and possibly most useful, is a claw like attachment that slides onto an air vent. This is probably fine on a fixed vent, but most vents have adjustable vanes. Here, the weight of holder and phone tends to turn the vanes to point downwards. And once they're pointing down, the whole thing slides off. With some careful adjustment it is just about possible to get the thing to stay in place, but the options in terms of position are then severely limited. The second fixing attachment is a lever operated suction cup. This is coated with an adhesive to allow it to be fixed to a textured dashboard. Unfortunately, the adhesive isn't up to the job. Despite carefully cleaning and preparing the spot I wanted to mount the device, the whole thing fell off after only a couple of days in situ. The suction cup probably does work on a windscreen, or even a smooth dash board. But for such an application the adhesive is unnecessary, and serves only to leave unpleasant marks on the windscreen. IĀ cannot recommend this product.

Good
Didn't stay put on my Fiesta dash, kept coming off after a few days. Since I've stuck it to the windscreen it has not come off once nor come loose. Been several weeks now and can fit my phone in without the fear of it coming off the windscreen. Rotates if you loosen the connector at the back but you have to tighten it once you have the angle and placement right otherwise it will just stoop down with the weight of the phone. I have a Sony Experia Z3 and no issues with width or size. One criticism is that the side grippers may interfere with your phones buttons if your phone has them near the middle. I have a hard case on my phone which helps keep the gripper away from my buttons but something to bear in mind.

Did the job that others failed on.
Great product. I used it in my 2003 Volvo and it stuck to the dash well, although didn't once I moved to a 2011 BMW, I guess that was because of the texture difference in the dash plastic. Because of it's adaptability though I still had the choice of mounting it on my windscreen or in a vent. I stuck it on my windscreen and it hasn't moved since.I also moved from a 3.5" iPhone 4S in that time to a 4.7" iPhone 6 and it held them both great. It also self levels the horizontal position with the spring; so even if you only pull one side of the mount to get your phone in (as I do when it's next to the car's A pillar) the mount pulls it centrally after. If I'm being picky the hoops that hold the phone could be more slim, but I guess it's trying to cover a few bases by being universal so slightly too large for modern phones (2010 onwards) but it never felt like it got in the way of operation, just slightly unattractive.I've tried a few phone mounts and this is the first one that has actually done the job for a decent length of time (coming up to a year now). Others, especially adhesive based ones seem to not last too long, especially if it needs to move between cars.

Works well for most situations
Top notch phone holder. The suction cup holds very secure to the windshield, and the air vent mount is likewise very secure. The phone holder itself feels quite sturdy as well, and should fit most phones out there right now.The only issue I had was with the windscreen holder. It is rigid and a fixed length, so my particular combination of a shallow angled windscreen and tall phone means that I can't use it without the phone pointing down to my knees. The vent holder works well in my case, though it does wobble side to side at times due to the fact that it's only held in horizontally, but not vertically. Overall it should work well with most cars, but be aware that the windscreen mount may not work if your phone is particularly tall, and windscreen steep.
