Better than your average Zippo
I've had mine now for six months. Not long but, as a virtual chain-smoker, it's had a fair ammount of use and abuse. Took a week to arrive, which was faster than the delivery estimate so no complaints about service. It arrived in good dondition and both the lighter and packaging were in perfect condition. The finish looks better in the flesh than the photos indicate. Seen from an oblique angle, the brushed sides appear almost black, so it's name is no misnomer. What separates this from other Zippos is the four hinge lid bracket, as opposed to the standard five. This construction makes for a greater sense of robustness than the five-hinged varients. Friends who bought current model Zippos at around the same time as I have lighters which already have a decidedly sloppy feel when opening them. Mine still feels as firm as the day it arrived and has a pleasing snap on closing. Strangely, it also feels nicer to hold than its modern counterparts due to its more rounded casing. The only downsides are that you need to use Zippo flints, as the more commonly available types (Swan, etc) are too long which can be a pain. Stock up on Zippo flints to avoid severe irritation...The second concerns the brushed finish. If you walk around with it in a pocket along with coins or the like, the finish (very) quickly becomes scratched. Personally, I rather like it. Adds to the character. Hors d' combat and all that. If you want to keep yours pristine however, this has to be considered.I've owned several Zippos over the years and this is certainly the best. Oh, and the hinge makes for a good conversation starter with other weed addicts. If you're after a Zippo, this is the one to have. I just wish they'd make a version with their heavy duty brass casing...

The best lighters in the world
Been using my grandads old zippo for the past 15 years or so. It’s a 1993 brass. I dropped it the other day and decided to retire it as I’m too scared of breaking it. I fancied an older design zippo and didn’t realise they made a replica 1941. It’s a great lighter, really nice texture and solid built. My particular one is dated 2021

why did zippo change from this perfect design?
This zippo and its finish in my opinion is by far the best zippo model currently available. Its miles better than the Z200 (super common ones) it has nice touches to the casing and due to its size its sits perfect in the hand and a delight to use. This is going to take over from my colibri wellington lighter that I have been using for cigars..... yes thats right cigars ! and before you scoff about using a zippo which i know you are not supposed to use because of the petrol smell affecting your quality sticks i have swapped out the zippo petrol insert for a Z-plus jet flame butane insert instead.Upgrading the fuel insert/tank for those who wish to retain the Zippo case but hate the petrol smell. Before purchasing it I searched all over the web to find any info on whether the Z-plus would fit a 1941 case but to no avail, however i can confirm they do fit perfectly.I disagree with another reviewer who said that other standard zippo inserts dont fit, thats rubbish they do as long as you are using a Z200 insert (super common one) or the Armour insert either will fit.I love this 1941 model so much I now have a black ice to go with the collection and will add the brushed brass and the black crackle to the collection.

Quality!!
Just received this lighter in the post despite working on currently reducing my smoking....It's a beautiful lighter with a really hefty, quality feel about it in the hand, and of course the satisfying almost reassuring click when you open and close it, that's requisite with a genuine Zippo product.Sure, the colour and design make it one of the more 'well known' of the Zippo lighters in terms of how it looks, but then I feel it's the classic elements of this design that make it so appealing, and give it a timeless quality, a bit like white t-shirts and Converse trainers.Yes I would certainly recommend this product.

Zippo 1941 Replica
It makes me wonder why they ever changed the design from this one in the first place. This model is so much sturdier than any other modern zippo. The 4 barrel hinge just does it for me and I love the way the lid flips all the way back. I feel that makes it a lot more solid and durable compared to the 5 barrel modern version. The shape itself is a lot sexier and somewhat bigger, which I personally prefer. S overall it is a great lighter and definitely my favorite.

Excellent build
I don't smoke but I get asked for a light often enough that I still carry a lighter with me - must have a certain look that makes people think I smoke or something. I've used el cheapo Zippo knock offs but they always run dry really quick and have often been a pain to light. I decided to get something decent with the hope that it would work well and keep going for a few years and the Zippo definitely fits the bill. It lights every time, the precision build should deal with those fumes escaping and wasting all my fuel and it feels like it should last. I will say that the photos here are a little misleading - they look very black when the actual lighter has an extremely high sheen to it, so even though it's black it actually looks closer to a mirror finish most of the time. It's a very nice effect though, so don't let that put you off. If you want a pure black Zippo, I believe there's one with a matte black finish that might be better.

It’s a zippo.
Nice lighter. Looks beautiful and I love the old design. I much prefer the shape to the current offering. Having said all that, the quality of these lighters has really gone down considerably in the past decade at least. I have a regular 1989 brass zippo, the construction is leagues above what they are doing now. Shame really. Go on eBay and grab yourself a 20/30 year old lighter and see for yourself.
