A bargain can't be beat at quality/price
If you have the space there isn't any $400 bookshelf that is beating this.1. BuildFeel sturdy and well built. They looks good and merge well with the livingroom furniture really good. Good cabe binding post, can be bi-amped and nice magnetic grills2. SoundThey are a well balance lots of detail but fun at the same time. It has a layback presentation it doesn't put the music at your face and I like that because the speaker disappear in to the music. The bass is good at times a bit out of control but I remedied by moving the speaker away from the wall. Also my amp is only 25wpc but really efficient speakers it get pretty loud and fill a big room with distortion free music. The mids are realy good and neutral. It doesn't favor female or male voices in particular they both sounds equally good. The hights are pretty good. The tweeter is probably where you can se some trickle down from top Q accoustics models. Plenty of details, realistic without being fatiguing. The Box. The cabinet is good and here is where floor stand are just better than bookshelf speakers. I listen to Jazz and latin music and there are lots of sounds that are reproduced by the accoustics of the cabinet you won't listen to that with a $1200 bookshelf speakers, this speaker is $400. Soundstage and imaging is really good. Great instrument separation and depending on the electronics you get that 3d and wide Soundstage.3. PairingHere is where this speakers can be great or just ok. They are pretty neutral if you use bad electronics that's what you are going to get: bad sound. With decent electronics you can't go wrong with this speakers at this price. Nothing out there can beat this at $400. If you are in the market for a pair of speakers and have A $500 budget get this before they run out.

If you can get a pair, do it, don't hesitate this is truly audiophile for the masses
The first time I layed eyes on Q Acoustics speakers was on 3020 bookshelf models a few years ago and I was immediately captivated by their looks. I knew I had to get some at some point in time. I love floorstanders so it was the 3050 all the way for me. This Summer they were on sale in white for £299 and at that point in time I didn't have the funds and I am still gutted about that but heyho, last week I finally had a bit more leeway and with them being in ever shorter supply due to them having been discontinued and superseded by the 3050i I knew it was now or never.I had Wharfedale Pacific EVO 30's which are sweet sounding, beautiful looking and quite big floorstanders but these are dwarfed by the 3050's who stand a little more than a meter tall. The 3050's are beautiful sound monoliths with their rounded edges, they have a commanding presence, they look SO good, I am absolutely smitten by them.Enough about the looks, how's the sound? In one word: sweet! I have a little more than 40 hours break-in time on them at the moment and they sound excellent. I am driving them from a Marantz NR1200 with Amazon Music HD as high res source with QED XT-25 cables, nothing fancy but certainly up to the task. I thought they already sounded mint right out of the box, maybe a little harsh in the highs and unfocused in the lows but that VERY soon changed into a smooth sounding combo. I have seen reviews lamenting the lack of bass. Put James Blake's 'Limit to your Love' on and the bass just pins you back in your seat and at moderate volume. Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü's 'Mind (feat. Kai) [Ekali & Gravez Remix]' has beautiful big bass and Sevdaliza's album 'Ison' is beautifully produced with rich lows as is FKA Twig's 'LP1' and Underworld's 'Dubnobasswithmyheadman'. If you can't hear the bass in those albums on these speakers there is something wrong in your audio chain and it's not these speakers believe me! I don't use the foam bungs as they inhibit and choke the sound at least in my room, they may have their uses for others but they stay in their little plastic bags in my house.Miles Davis's 'Kind of Blue' and 'Bitches Brew' in 24-bit/96 kHz is a real treat. 'Leaving meaning' from Swans is huge, wide, epic. David Sylvian's 'Secrets of the Beehive', an album that has been with me for decades now has revealed new layers to me. I can go on and on about the new revelations I hear in albums that I have known for a long time but I am already longwinded as it is. Sound is wide, roomfilling, precise, everything is balanced, the mids are well defined, the feeling of space is so clear and you now where everyone is in that space. Vocals are clear and centered.I once had a high end setup for a year that my audiophile brother had loaned me with a worth of 15.000 euros. I can't remember the brand, they were huge mono blocks with pre-amp and my speakers at the time were Dutch made Aura Pied Pipers. After a year I could purchase the set for 1.500 euros, a fraction of the worth but I just didn't have the money so I had to let them go. After that everything sounded mediocre and I never bothered anymore and was content with mp3's played through my computer on mediocre 5.1 and 7.1 AV Receivers. Until now.The Marantz/Q Acoustics setup I have now coupled with Amazon Music HD have given me the real pleasure of listening to music back, however budget it all may be. Don't get me wrong, I have never stopped listening to music and enjoying it but this set, now beautifully rounded out by the 3050's put a smile on my face everyday. It is remarkable what QA has done within this price bracket with the 3050. I am truly, truly impressed with the sheer quality of the sound produced by them. It is truly audiophile for the masses and a huge thank you to Q Acoustics to bring quality like that at a price that the common man can afford. If you can get hold of these for a nice price, do it, you will not regret it!

Per me no.

One Thousand Off Discontinued Speaker
1. Make sure you order two. Many speakers such as this one are sold as each, not as a pair.2. In my extended weeks long research of the 3050i (updated version) I found the very minor differences not to warrant the price difference. This 3050 will be gone soon so hurry and pick up a pair before it's too late. The grey was the only version left when I ordered mine. Looks fine but it wouldn't have been my first choice.3. Speaker is 7.9 wide, 12 deep and 40 high. Not a very big speaker which is perfect for my room. Comes with carpet spikes and rubber covers for them if you have wood floors. The bottom brace helps to keep it stable.4. The dual 6.5 woofers (actual size is less then 6 which is normal) along with the rear port (comes with ports plugs if needed) puts out nice bass for those that listen to adult music. If you're into rap and hip hop with bloated bass you will probably want a subwoofer. The tweeter blends well the the woofers, giving smooth highs and rich mids. BTW, I do not use these for cinema so I can't comment on that.5. The stereo imaging is nice and wide, filling the room with music. The detail is really good but not so ridiculous that it makes older recordings sound bad. I have a simple S.M.S.L. 300A Class D amp and it matches very well. The sound is not fatiguing like some of the more V shaped speakers out there. My main house speakers have been the Klipsch RB-5 which are quite incredible but V-shaped and more fatiguing after long listening sessions.6. I'm very pleased with the Q Acoustics 3050. So much so I may save up for one of their higher end speakers once the economy improves.Update: I ended up adding two OSD 8" subwoofers to the system. I'm not a basshead, just needed more bass then the 3050 could give me. They are $200 each and very much worth it. The richness of the system is now complete.Highly recommended.
