VonHaus Lawn Scarifier/Aerator/Rake Corded 1500W – 30L Box, 10m Cable

For over three decades I simply cut my lawn to keep it tidy. It was only when I reclaimed a neglected bit of garden and turfed it, that I realised the rest of the lawn was looking quite a mess with more moss and weeds than grass. I did a bit of homework and realised that a thorough weed, feed and raking was required. I treated the lawn with a good 4 in 1 lawn care product and after three weeks It was time to rake. Well, after two hours of raking by hand I wasn't impressed with the results or the blisters on my hand. So, I bought this VonHaus 2 in 1 Lawn Scarifier with its 1500W motor, scarifier and rake attachments. It arrived two days earlier than expected on a Saturday morning so I was able to use it straight away. It was childishly simple to put it together. It seems well designed and built and should hopefully last for a few years. After I had assembled it I went straight out and started on my lawn which I'd just cut. The machine came with the scarifier drum fitted which is what I used. I set the easy height adjuster lever to level 3 and off I went. The machine is very light, weighing in at 8.5kg. The motor is no louder than an electric hover mower and is more than powerful enough to cut into the thatch and do its job effectively.I very quickly learned two lessons though. Lesson one, you are required to hold the thing back slightly, otherwise it will simply run away and skim the surface of the lawn. Lesson two, don't stop moving while the machine is running. I did, just once and it scalped a patch of lawn. I found the best technique was to tilt the machine back to lift the blades clear of the ground and release the power switch at the same time at the end of each run. I quickly got the hang of it. I was absolutely amazed at just how much thatch and dead weeds it pulled out of the lawn. I found I was filling the 28 litre collector box at the end of every twenty pace run and I very quickly filled my wheely bin. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase, I wish I'd bought one years ago. Now, hopefully I will be on course to getting a lawn I can be proud of.

Does what it says - really great for getting the dead grass and moss out of the lawn. The grass collector isn't very big, and seems to get full at the front rather quickly. I had to use a lawn rake to finish tidying up. However, it is a whole lot easier than using hand tools for the job! Seems to be well made and, for the price, I can't complain!

I bought this to swap out the scarifier so I could add a Verticutter. This is a good piece of kit and the added benefit of the verticutter just swaps in with 2 allen keys and I'm off sorting out the weed grass and lawn maintenance at a budget price of a professional verticutter set up. I like the height handle and the units size however I find the catch tray a little bit small which quickly fills up. So I leave that collector off and whizz over the lawns and then 'hoover' the clippings up with my lawnmower afterwards collecting everything in one sweep.

Brilliant device! It arrived really quickly. It's very light weight. After trying to scarify my lawn with hand raking, this is a life changer! Almost effortless and very effective. Easy to assemble. A real workhorse. I don't bother with the collecting bag because scarifying releases so much thatch that you will emptying it multiple times. Easier to just rake it together at the end. Would definitely recommend. I don't often write a review on a purchase but this product definitely deserved one.

Very pleased with the quality of this Lawn Scarifier/Aerator. The rake drum works very well and soon fills the catch basket.Its also easy to change over to the scarifier drum which does a good job of aerating the surface of the lawn. The power lead is nice and long which is handy.

Good product but lacked information on how best to scarify my lawn. Mainly what setting to use.As mentioned in other reviews the refuse bag fills up in seconds.

Superb little unit. I was torn between this and the more expensive 1800w version but after first use, for sure made the right choice. Easy to set up, very light and easy to manoeuvre and both the scarifying blades and spring tine rake work well. As everyone says, the waste basket fills super quickly but it is what it is, that's the job the product does..either use the basket or not, easy enough to rake up afterwards.

Great machine and does a wonderful job on scarifying the moss in the lawn.
