Nail these first and then buy the pedal. **Q: Is it compatable for bass guitars ?** A: Yes it is. I use mine on a bass and it sounds good. **Q: I’ve bought this for my other half but it seems there’s no where to put a 9V battery in it. Am I right?** A: There are 2 plastic pip/ hinges holding the footswitch on. Use a pen to push them in and remove the foot pad and there is the battery compartment. This should be described in the instructions. **Q: Will this help with pickup noise? I use a guitar with P90s, which generate a lot of hum and noise.** A: Kind of. With a low threshold setting and low decay it'll just mute the sounds of hum when not playing. It will definitely help though. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cheap, but gooooood... very good. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 22 October 2015* I bought this pedal because my 6+ year old BOD100 kinda broke (just the plastic casing).I have fixed it with glue, and it holds up, but it has highlighted that nothing lasts forever. But the BOD100 is still on my pedal board and is now used as a booster. The BOD400 has taken over as my main overdrive pedal, and is mostly the same (bar the name). I did notice a slight tone difference, maybe a tad more aggressive, so I adjusted it to get back the tone I had before. No trouble.I can tell you that with this cheap overdrive, I have had many compliments on my saturated sound, being on stage or recorded. A friend of mine has a recording studio, and when I sent him some recordings, he asked me what my saturation was, as he really liked the tone. Not bad for a pedal less than £20...One niggle (which doesn't concern me really) is the opening of the battery casing which is a bit awkward. I do not care as it is plugged in my generator, but people using batteries might find it not great. I thought I'd mention it.Now, addressing the bad reviews saying that it is crap, cheaply made of plastic etc... Yes it is made of plastic. I am careful with my stuff and don't jump on my pedal board while playing. My BOD100 lasted (and still lasts after the aforementioned supergluing) many years, and have never had an issue. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic pedal for £15 *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 19 February 2016* Great tone that can be used as a clean boost all the way through to heavy overdrive. Four dials to change the sound so it's a very versatile box. The Behringer guitar pedals usually fall a bit short compared to the 'premium' ones, but I'm chuffed to bits with this bass pedal. Sure a pro musician wouldn't use this to record with, but for the price and the sound this is a hard box to beat.As always, plastic build, but unless you're jumping up and down on them they're decent pedals and will last . I've got 6 and they all still work perfectly - the oldest one is +13 years. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ For the price, an ace bit of kit! *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 19 July 2012* For the price this is the best bass overdrive pedal I have encountered.Roughly a third the price of a Boss equivalent it has excellent tone, and lots of area to experiment as it relies on manual settings. However, it has a couple of downsides.. the casing is plastic, but, it is a very tough polymer type plastic that could easily withstand a few blows and dropping. It's ideal for small time gigging, home and studio use, though not sure it would last a whole tour! The Battery compartment is fiddly to get in to. And frankly a silly design, involving using a ball point pen to open it. Not so good for a quick battery change! But, at the price you get a reasonably constructed pedal with comparative sound to a more expensive version! If you're strapped for cash I definitely recommend it! ## Frequently Bought Together - Behringer BASS OVERDRIVE BOD400 Authentic Tube-Sound Overdrive Effects Pedal - JOYO DC 9V Guitar Pedal Power Supply (800mA -1A) AC Wall Charger Adapter with 4 Way Daisy Chain Pedal Cables (8.8 FT), Compatible for Most Effect Pedals (Tip Negative) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/48138962-bass-overdrive-bod400-authentic-tube-sound-overdrive-effects-pedal](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/48138962-bass-overdrive-bod400-authentic-tube-sound-overdrive-effects-pedal) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-26*
