My son recently converted to DE safety razor shaving and explained its benefits to me. I decided to take the plunge. After looking at a number of safety razors on Amazon I decided to go for the MK005. I have only used it a few times but already I am a huge convert and will probably never go back to the old multi blade cartridge razors. The MK005 is quite heavy and feels very well balanced in the hand. At first I thought it was a bit short but shaving with it feels just right. When the head is screwed down, the razors edges are angled downwards perfectly. It delivers a smooth, close shave and is completely safe. So far I have had no nicks. The razor looks fantastic with the mirror finish chrome. The patterning on the handle is quite shallow, giving it a fairly smooth feel. My son thinks it could be a bit slippy but it feels fine to me. I have so far only used Astra blades but would like to try a number of others for comparison. If you are looking for a good quality safety razor at an affordable price, then look no further.

I am a convert to shaving with a Double Edge Safety Razor, and I wanted a well balanced, precision razor that was beautifully crafted, and I can safely say this razor met all the criteria. It is a solid razor made in the UK that balances well in the hand which gives the user good control. I have tried other razors with longer stems that are not conducive to a close shave. It is easy to load by unscrewing the handle, removing the head then placing the razor blade in the appropriate spot. One of the secrets to a close shave is ensuring that the blade remains, well, razor sharp. I change my blade every three days or so as I have a tough beard to hack through. Using a DE razor this can be done cheaply, with some blades being as little as £8 for a box of 100. Also, preparation is important. I wash my face, then use the Executive Shaving Company’s, “Water Soluble Pre-Shave Oil”, then lather up with good quality shaving soap before starting to shave. This enables the razor to glide effortlessly over my face, and gives me a “baby bum” smooth shave that lasts the whole day, and often the next day, and free from razor burn. Shaving this way is a very enjoyable experience, but it takes a few shaves to learn a technique that is best for you to prevent razor burn and nicks. This is an easier process with a good razor such as this one. My advice to anyone who is sick of forking out huge sums of money for cassette type razors and their blades is to stop doing so and give a DE Razor a go. I was paying for blades which became dull after three, possibly four shaves, through a club for two years and then topping up with more blades until the next consignment. With regards to razors you cannot buy a better one than this.

My first impression was that the handle, at 10 centimetres, was not as long as I'd expected and I thought this would be a problem as I have quite big hands. However in use it is not a problem at all and it feels quite good in the hand with a nice weight. Fitting blades is easy and the screw mechanism is solid and reliable. I am finding that I cut myself more with it than I had expected but this is probably my getting used to it. I am also using DE blades at the moment so I might switch to Feather to see if that makes a difference. The one thing I don't like is the angle of the cover makes it almost impossible to shave right up to my nose and, in order to shave that area, I have to shave against the growth of my whiskers which is more likely to lead to cuts. I'll persevere for now and update if I find that the situation improves. All in all a good buy, great value for money and looks very nice in my bathroom. Looks and feels like a quality item.

I've had a full beard since 1986 and so shaving the edges of my beard and cheek areas were the only parts I have needed to worry about. For those I've just used plastic disposable or multi bladed disposable razors which have been okay for what little areas needed addressing. However since COVID-19 I decided to start clean shaving again. I continued with plastic multi blade disposables for a while but they just didn't do a good enough job. Unable to cleanly shave awkward hairs under the nose/nostrils and after couple of shaves they were only fit for the bin. I therefore decided to go back to a double-edge traditional safety razor which is what I used to use prior to growing my beard back in the '80's. After reading a huge number of reviews I narrowed the choice down to the Longshanks - and I have to say that I am not disappointed. The length and feel of the handle is ideal with a nicely knurled grip which prevents any slipping whilst being held in use. Great quality finish all over and the whole body and handle are weighted nicely to give a good balance whilst in use allowing the razor do the work without the need to press the blade on the skin as you have to with plastic disposable and multi blade rubbish. The head size makes reaching those awkward areas easy and allowing a good close shave all over. I use 'Astra' DE blades in mine which seem to work well for me and seem to be a good match for this razor body. I have also just ordered a pack of the sharper 'Feather' brand DE blades which will also fit this razor body just as a comparison. Irrespective of which brand of DE blade used I feel that the actual razor body itself is an all round excellent quality item and one which I can certainly recommend.

I've been using this razor since the beginning of January 2019 so I've had it a while now but must say that it's the best shave I've had ever! I've been using disposable razors for the last 20 years and absolutely hated shaving because of the trauma of dragging a flimsy blade over my face. I used to find that if I went too long without shaving the disposable razors couldn't cope with the length of stubble so the blades would get clogged and bend and then savage my face. My hairs seem to be thicker around my chin area so I would get a lot of cuts and ingrowing hairs from shaving around that area which has left me with some permanent scars. Since using the Earnest James double edge razor I haven't had any issues with the blades getting clogged even with really long growth. I haven't had any ingrowing hairs or cuts around my chin since I started using it and my skin looks much better. Although I only shave twice a week, I've been using the same blade since January and it still cuts really well which is a bonus as it will be much more econonomical. The product itself is really well made and has a longer handle compared to most others which I really like as it feels comfortable to hold. It took a couple of shaves to get used to it but now I feel completely confident with it and get a really close shave. It just feels so much better to shave with than a flimsy plastic razor. I also like the fact that this razor is ecoligical as there are no plastic parts so I'm not polluting the planet with disposable razors. And it comes with a really nice case too.

After some browsing around and looking at recommendations I opted for the Standard Length Heavy Duty Razor. I'd been dissatisfied with all the plastic handled things and the waste they generate and the subscription services although reasonably cheap and good quality are still plastic and have a ton of waste. It arrived promptly – nicely packaged and could be used as a gift with only the addition of wrapping paper. Amazon will also do this for you, or you could do it yourself and make it more personal. I had bought blades separately – I did think one of a recommended brand might have been included but I’d bought a 100 blades at the same time so this was a small detail. I've learned since that they are not allowed to ship with blades. Nicely weighted in my hand. Looks well made and is finished very well – very easy to use – I’ve used these types before – it was all we had when I started shaving back in the early 70s – but if you’ve not used one before just take it slowly. Best shave is achieved after a warm shower/bath or a good hot wash. And use a good quality soap. Razor as I said nicely weighted – if you have largish hands go for the long handled version – if I ever need to buy another razor I might pick one of these. But this is very good – I know a lot is also down to the quality of the blades but as far as razors go this is probably the best I’ve used. Comfortable, easy to use and replace blades, because it is well made and solid. This may well be the last razor I ever need to buy unless I buy a spare for traveling.

Thor's Hammer, I am very impressed with this classic 3 piece razor. Mine came with a stand and I think it looks great in the bathroom. I like the feel and balance of the razor in my hand. I get a good, smooth, close shave. I can't think of any benefits that I got from my vibrating, very expensive 5 blade razor compared to the Thor's Hammer. I could be £100 a year better off for not buying the expensive 'hi-tech' blades and I feel good about not creating more plastic pollution when they get dull and I throw them away. And finally, Thor's Hammer comes in a neat travel case. I may go completely retro, planet friendly, and start using a shaving brush instead of the cans of foam, which are more junk to throw out when empty.

My husband bought this for me as a present as he was encouraging me to try this type of razor over the commercial cartridge type ones in stores. The first pro for this product is the quality. It feels heavy, not too heavy to hold but just enough that you know it has a sturdy construction, and it also looks really stylish, particularly with the Earnest James engraving on the top. It looks more expensive than it was and was a really reasonable price. I prefer the long handle to my husband’s (he has a short handle) as I can hold it steadier and reach difficult places, however this is just personal preference. It shaves really well with the razors we have and I really enjoy the money I save by buying razor blades over cartridges and it’s interesting to try out different types of razors. The environmental aspect of waste reduction is also a plus for me! As of yet, I can’t see me going back and shall continue to enjoy this type of razor from now on.

Il peso è ottimo bilanciato in modo da concentrare tutto il peso sulla lama quindi questo comporta una rasatura migliore. Inoltre è anche antiscivolo. Consiglio vivamente questo prodotto a chi cerca un Top di gamma a un ottimo prezzo accessibile a tutti.

E' di aspetto gradevolissimo, ben rifinite anche le parti interne solitamente non esposte da montato. Ha un buon peso e scivola molto bene sulla pelle. Dopo anni di rasatura con attrezzi più scadenti di questo mi chiedo come mai non abbia pensato prima ad un rasoio di migliore qualità come questo che salvo imprevisti o cadute durerà anni. Dà soddisfazione ad utilizzarlo.
