Easy to apply and helps paint stick to difficult surfaces
I have 3 rainwater butts that have begun to look shabby after several years sun and sea air attacking the plastic surface and colour. I wanted to freshen them up with paint but was wary of painting plastic surfaces. I was advised to use this before painting as it stabilises the surface and helps the paint to stick giving a long term finish. After thorough jet washing the water butts, it is painted on in the normal way and dries a white colour and to be sure I applied 2 coats allowing the first one to dry for about 3 hours. Allowing this paint to dry for the rest of the day and overnight I then applied 2 coats of my chosen Dulux Weather Shield Quick Dry Satin Paint, 750 ml - Hazelnut Truffle which blends in with the brickwork behind. I am very very happy with the finished results which were smooth and deep and I have posted this review 16 months after painting and there has been no deterioration, flaking or blistering which I believe to be because of the Dulux Difficult Surface Primer. I thoroughly recommend this product before painting difficult and plastic surfaces.

Good undercoat paint
As might be expected, this dulux undercoat applies well and gives good coverage. Would have been 5 star but for the fact that the tin lid lip is made of such thin metal nowadays that the lip bends badly when opening the tin.

Good adhesion and long life hard wearing durable coating
I like dulux for its consistency and application it plants on like a hot knife through butter however it does not dry like a traditional oil based paint seen as this is acrylic as with many paints today. I have issues with it's bonding particularly on old woods where the wood has knots or has had previous paint applied. It requires application the sanding and more application wo you will go through allot of this stuff to get a good finish before topcoat. It does seal the wood eventually very very well and with a good topcoat will look very good indeed. I find it best to apply with a foam roller or a very good fine soft bristle brush. If you see brush marks you will see brush marks on the top coat hence dand between coats with super fine abrasives I even used scotch bright pads to get that super smooth brush mark free bubble free base coat. High gloss topcoat are another matter but at least you can get a brilliant base coat perfect with this stuff.
