Profoundly Informative
One of the best, deepest, most interesting and perhaps life changing books I have ever read. It's the kind of book you will want to read many times throughout your life.I cannot speak to the exact translations as I do not know Sanskrit (the authour does though so I am confident they are accurate), but the analogies and stories used to help illustrate the Sutras were extremely helpful, relatable and encouraging. For me the Sutras themselves were quite overwhelming when I started to read them, so to compensate I got through the book slowly and at a pace that would allow me to assimilate the information in less of a mind blowing way. Knowing that I would not learn everything on one read through also allows for easier reading. If you have any interest in Yoga then a book on the Sutras should perhaps be on your reading list.

Must have, must read book
I have just started reading the book. Each sutra is full of wisdom and depth. I hope I learn a lot from this book and become a better person, better mind, and ultimately find myself.

Perfect for an intro to Yoga history
Lovely book as an introduction to Yoga Theory and history. Must read if you are embarking on deeper Yoga studies. I have read it several times and return to it often. The author relates and gives examples to apply and suit the modern day, without losing the essence of the sutra. The sutras are written in sanskrit, then in phonetic english. Then the explanation. An easy to read book and opens your eyes. Lots of common sense and is great to read as a reminder that we can use yoga everyday and incorporate into our lives.

Classic on theory of Yoga
The ancient text is a source of the most famous yoga bon-motte - '' Yoga stills the mind'', in a nutshell. A classic for anyone who wants to get to know the root and theory of Yoga,in philosophical and historical context.

Inspiring
This book is a joy to read. I have only been practicing Yoga for a few months; I can see why people say it is an important text to read. Very complex ideas are explained clearly and this explanation I feel helps one make sense of one's own journey. There are certain spiritual concepts I have always been curious about. After reading this text I feel I have a greater idea of what they mean. I feel so fortunate to have come to Yoga practice at this time in my life and to have discovered this book. A great text to keep around, especially during testing times in life.

my favorite!
I've read trough a couple of Yoga Sutras commentary, but this one from Sri Swami Satchidananda is - for me - simply the best. It's easy to understand, even though the topic itself sometimes seems to be quite hard to digest, and it gives practical advice how to use the sutras in "real" and everyday life. For some other commentaries I've read the problem seems to be, that it fits perfect to people living in an Ashram, who can concentrate on their self-development all day long - but for all of those (including me) - who try to establish inner peace while still staying in everyday life, it seems not to fit.so try it out :)

A Priceless Gem for Spiritual Seekers!
While Ashtanga Yoga (aka RajaYoga) is a practical guide to healthy mind management and in gaining an insight to the true essence of oneself, it is mostly beneficial when adopted as a lifestyle.Yet, in providing his spiritual insights and in sharing his practical wisdom on the timeless "Yoga Sutras of Patanjali", Sri Swami Satchidananda has graced all the spiritual seekers a priceless service. No words or praise may be able to justify my immense gratitude for this fine work.🙏The word to word translation, the transliteration of the sutras in English language and his insightful commentry - all are very easy to undertand.Dhyanabaad and namastee!🙏

Yoga classique
