Halo Holistic Dry Cat Food, Wild-Caught Whitefish Recipe, 6 lb

My cat and I are both allergic to each other. She sneezes from me and I sneeze from her. She also has a very delicate stomach. I can’t tell you how many cat foods I’ve been through. This is the only one that she has minimal vomiting. Plus it comes in salmon, which is her favorite flavor. She’s a very, very finicky cat. And if I ate every time she ate, I would be very thin just like her. My cat and I are very much alike. We both have gray hair. We both are fixed and we both are old. This is a great cat food. It’s a number 10 for any cat that has a bad stomach this is the one to get thank you for making it and making it in salmon.

My 12 year old cat wouldn't touch this food. My fault, he doesn't like seafood, but I thought I would give it a whirl, since it had great reviews and I am always on the hunt for a "better" food for his sensitive tummy. I failed. So...I ended up giving the entire bag to my sister-in-law and brother, who have a 17 year old cat with just about every old age health problem imaginable. He is also a picky eater, but they reported that he LOVES this food. He meows for it (he doesn't really meow anymore, just kind of lets out old cat rusty croaky noises). Their vet said the seafood is a bit rich for his exclusive diet, so they simply mix in a tiny serving with his prescription old man food that he would usually just pick at and he now gobbles up his entire meal. They have tried mixing other foods for him before, but he would ignore the bowl completely or nibble around it. We are all pleased that this food is helping to keep an old cat full, happy and healthy!

This is the closest dry cat food brand (Halo) I could find after research and trial and error wos ingredients reflect actual goodness and ethics! I have one healthy kitty and two kitties with health problems that have been on sensitive prescribed diets - one has GI issues and the other has a form of grass related asthma (believe it or not). I know the veterinarians mean well but the pet food health trend has been to go for food with less by product, filler and grains. Most or all Prescribed foods do not meet this standard. The cats love this and the kibble is small (see photo). Halo also pays attention to the details and includes a zip lock for freshness. Packaging is exceptional. The food even smells fresh! Halo is a keeper and on my small list of excellent pet food companies now. *As a cat food consumer I've been looking more for human grade made in USA as opposed to grain and feed grade. I have only found one such item but it's freeze dried powdered meat with nutrients and you mix with warm water. All of my cats prefer dry over wet so I'm sticking with Halo for dry food.

I wanted to switch up the food for both cats and really looked hard at ingredients. I liked what was in this and it was in same price range as the food our older ate so gave it a try. She chowed the first bag and is on her second and seems happy and active. Will keep going on this one, especially if the younger likes it too since don't live together except on holidays and it is convenient to travel with only one bag.

My 15 y/o cat has been experiencing increasing GI problems over the last few years. He developed a poultry allergy 3 years ago which causes severe diarrhea within 30 minutes of ingesting food with any type of poultry (eggs don't seem to bother him). It was difficult at that time to find a dry cat food (he will not touch any food that is wet - even canned fish) that was fish only. More companies are now making fish only foods as apparently poultry allergies in cats have have become more common. He started vomiting up most of his food right after eating over the last year which increased to the point that he had lost 2 lbs over the last 6 months. He was vomiting up every food that I tried. He was begging for food, but could not keep it down. At that point, a vet visit was required. All of his lab tests were normal. The vet assumes that he has some type of inflammatory bowel disease that has slowly been progressing over time. He may even have some low grade pancreatitis. He was started on B-12 injections weekly x 6wks then monthly. He was also started on 5mg prednisolone (cats cannot take prednisone) daily with excellent results. The vomiting totally stopped as long as I gave him the medication daily & kept him on the same food. He gained back a pound in the first month on the medication. He will remain on the medication for another 3 months & then the vet will re-assess if he can be weaned off the medication. I stopped attempting to decrease the medication dosage because the vomiting would resume within 12 hours of reducing the dosage. Unfortunately, the only fish only dry food that he would eat & could tolerate was Wellness Ocean Core dog food. (Dry fish only dog food is easily available compared to cat foods. There are about only 6-8 varieties of fish only dry cat foods & he either will not eat or cannot tolerate at least half of those.) He has been eating dog food for 6 months now because every time I attempted to switch him to a cat food he would either not eat it or begin vomiting again even though he was still on the medication. This particular dog food does have taurine in it which is essential for cats. I had given up on finding a cat food that he would eat & could tolerate. I tried this food hoping maybe he could tolerate it. It does have some chicken liver in it, but I was hoping that it would not be enough to bother him. I mixed the food with his old food in 50% ratios. He picked out this cat food over the dog food he had been eating. He ate the food over 6 hours ago & so far, no problems at all. It is very small pieces which is good because it is easier for him to eat & digest. I am hoping that he will continue to eat this food & tolerate it without any GI issues. The food smells terrible, but most fish only foods smell pretty bad. I can deal with the smell as long as he eats it & can tolerate it without vomiting. It does not smell as bad as the EVO herring formula which caused half the house to smell really bad when I fed him. That food gave him diarrhea & he vomited it up also. The last cat food that I tried (Taste of the Wild) he ate very well, but promptly vomited every bit of it up within 10 minutes. He won't touch Wellness Salmon formula or Natural balance Salmon & Pea formula. He ate the Natural Balance Rabbit & Salmon formula (hard to find), but vomited it up also. The last time I checked the formula had changed & there was poultry added to it. He likes & tolerates fairly well the Nature Instinct Variety Salmon formula, but he would vomit that up at least half of the time. He was eating that food when he lost the 2 lbs over 6 months. I really hope this food works out as I have literally tried every dry fish only cat food available. So far it looks promising!

I have been a fan of Halo pet food for several years now. Halo, truly is a wonderful brand of food with quality ingredients. I decided to purchase this "sensitive" formula because my cat was puking up several times a week. Needless to say, I was ready to try the sensitive formula because who really likes to clean up cat puke.... Major Yuck!!! Anyways, my cat is on her 3rd bag of this formula and has done remarkably well. The puking has decreased dramatically and she seems more satisfied after eatting with this formula plus her coat looks remarkably more shiny. She eats several mini meals a day. I've noticed that helps with the puking situation as well. I am so happy that Halo created this "sensitive" formula, it has really made a positive difference in my cat's overall disposition and health. Yay Halo and yay Amazon for carrying this formula of Spot's Stew since my local store doesn't carry it!

High quality food which our two cats just love. One of them was having, err, digestive issues with a leading product named after a great actor and human being. He (the cat) was barfing frequently and experiencing some litter box issues, in addition to understandably showing little to no interest in his food. Since switching to Halo this guy has become a voracious eater with zero digestive problems. Both our cats are very happy at meal time. This food can be very pricey in retail stores but here on Amazon it represents a great bargain, especially if you sign up for a subscription, as we have done. Halo Spot's Stew is one of the best finds we have made in regard to actual day-to-day lifestyle benefits for all the residents of our home; I highly recommend this food, without reservation. I waited to write this review until my cat was done with her first bag of Halo Sensitive Stomach Dry Cat Food to make sure she had no problems keeping it down. We adopted Savannah a little over 2 years ago from the local shelter. In that period of time, she has tried no less than a dozen different brands of dry cat food. Inevitably, I have had to switch to another dry kibble because she was unable to keep them down. Halo is the first brand that has seemingly given her no stomach issues. The kibble size is smaller than any other brand that she has tried. I believed that she needed a larger kibble that she could actually crunch to speed digestion, but I was wrong, lesson learned for both of us. For other cat owners, I've discovered Savannah does not stomach can cat food that is in the form of "pate". I'm not sure why that is but I have switched her over to eating "flaked" or "shaved" can food, which seems to agree with her. Life is never dull when you have critters around! Amended 6/15/2023: This Halo kibble cat food I've been feeding Savannah successfully for several months has had the recipe changed. As with many other reviewers the recipe has changed so much that cats are either not eating the food or it's causing them to vomit. I've stopped buying Halo sensitive stomach kibble and found a far superior product elsewhere.
