Can I apply this over creosote (I know, I shouldn't have...) on my shed to reduce the smell (and enhance the weatherproofing)?

no you cannot apply Sadolin Clearcoat over creosote, if the creosote still smells it will bleed through the Sadolin coating.

What is the drying time

Depends on weather, sunny, cloudy windy. Hot sunny day, three hours . Cloudy cooler day four hours. Unvarnished wood soaks in first coat which dries in two hours and requires three coats. You can put a second coat on in two hours and a third coat the next day. Clear varnish leaves the wood it’s natural colour and brings the grain out Only use Sadolin.

Does this replace Sadolin's Yacht Varnish?

No, Sadolin Yacht Varnish is still current, this is a woodstain, which is clear but not colourless, we would recommend a test application first before application.

What is the best brush to use to apply this product? I am currently using a paint brush and the brush has become sticky and now won't apply well

I use Coral 31417 brushes from amazon. Seem to work really well. Sadolin doesn't like a lot of over brushing - if the temperature is right it goes tacky quite quickly. We're really pleased with the finish on our sapele window frames that we've been restoring
