Quality of basic product is very good, it worked perfectly after I repaired the case. The metal case around the electronic pcb and components is very thin metal. This case was bent and in contact with the electronic components therefore unsafe to use. The manufacturer needs to pack item in a strong cardboard case, and/or Amazon needs to deliver the item in a strong cardboard box instead of the thin cardboard sleeve they now seem to use.

Works well with my mini drill, as this is what i got it for. The slowest speed of the drill was to fast for polishing and some drilling work. A indicator sticker for the control knob would have been nice, as when you mount the unit the scale markings are etched onto the metal of the unit under the knob and is lost if you mount through a plate or box, this is why only 4 stars.

Took a bit of figuring out, but in the end I wired it to a new "variable socket" so I didn't need to cut the cord on the grinder. NB with the grinder running at half speed it's a 300W machine instead of the normal 600W but it works and I am getting a lot less tool burn.

Changing the potentiometer/ dial didn't change the voltage. It puts out the max voltage no matter where it's positioned... Returned for refund.

Purchased it to control air pump on bath Purchased fron B n Q .. To controll airflow / motor speed ..Works perfectly just what we needed great price as well

Firstly it works well, after the solder pin on the LIVE output connection was trimmed under the board to prevent it shorting to the case!! The terminals are still exposed, even when the cover is down, so I would install it in a plastic box. I would also earth the metalwork to the input earth. It is NOT double insulated. The cover is very flimsy and mine was severely dented on receipt.

The dimmer worked well to reduce the voltage, i was surprised it was silent in operation as most dimmers make a noise when its dialed down. i have to point out the case does need an Earth connection for safety and/or an additional ventilated box housing. The rotary scale seems good for what i was testing it on. Half Way seemed like Half Power. Usually Half the Voltage usually means Quarter the Power but it seemed more linear.

Hope this is really rated for 4Kw Case needsto be earthed I added a nut andbolt to use when i finally use this item. Also the internal 10 amp fuse is a glass one be better with a ceramic one?
