A Must-Have for Any Serious Singer โ Perfect for Travel, Warm-Ups, and Breath Training
As a professional opera singer who travels extensivelyโespecially during the demanding audition seasonโIโm always on the lookout for tools that help me maintain my vocal health and technique wherever I go. The TroyStudio Vocal Dampener has been an absolute game-changer for me. Traveling between hotels, Airbnbs, and various performance venues means I often have to warm up in less-than-ideal spacesโthin walls, neighbors nearby, and limited privacy. This vocal dampener lets me practice and warm up my voice quietly and discreetly, without disturbing anyone or feeling self-conscious. The silicone material is soft and comfortable, and it fits well over the mouth, significantly reducing sound leakage while still allowing me to engage fully with my breath and vocal cords. More than just a sound silencer, itโs also become an invaluable tool for breath technique training. Because it restricts airflow just enough, it encourages me to control my breath support more efficiently, helping me build strength and stamina even when I canโt sing at full volume. This is critical during busy seasons when I have multiple auditions and rehearsals packed closely together. Iโve also used it as a stress relief tool when I need to let out some frustration quietlyโwithout alarming hotel staff or family members! The design is odorless, portable, and easy to clean, making it perfect for tossing into my carry-on or rehearsal bag. Overall, the TroyStudio Vocal Dampener is not just a โnice to haveโ but an essential part of my vocal routine now. If youโre a singerโwhether professional or hobbyistโor anyone who needs to practice vocalization or breathing exercises in a quiet environment, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It combines quality, functionality, and portability in a way that truly supports vocal health on the go.

A MUST-HAVE for singers!
My partner and I are both musicians. We do both clean and harsh vocals (for the uninitiated that basically means "regular singing" and "metal screams"), and we are trying to figure out an option for practice space outside the home. In the meantime, we still gotta practice! My partner in particular is LOUD and reaches these insane soaring high notes that last forever... much to the chagrin of our neighbors, as I'm sure you can imagine. It was only a matter of time before we got a noise complaint, and we wanted to avoid that. DIY soundproofing wasn't cutting it, especially when the options we've found so far were neither cheap nor tenant-friendly. I found this product and was skeptical, but willing to try it. The great news is, we can practice at home without holding back or worrying now! We live in a 70+ y/o home with original windows, so if my partner is singing, it's loud from outside too. But if they belt into the "scream tube" and I step outside, I can still hear it, but quiet and muffled. Our street gets noisy enough to where it may even get lost completely among the sounds of idling trucks and kids at play. The sound reduction is really incredible. I'm guessing for people who live in more modern, soundproofed buildings, this could go even further. There's not much to it really. Just make sure it's sealed against your face, and wash that part so it doesn't get gross. It doesn't absorb 100% of sound obviously... there's a chance your neighbors or housemates will still hear you... but the reduction is truly significant. It's an indispensable tool if you're a singer stuck in a shared home or apartment building but don't have anywhere else to practice. I also really get a kick out of the concept of a "scream tube." Even the phrase is funny. But hey, it works!

It helps!! Scream and it dampens about 30%
It just looks like such a creepy weird Medical device. They really should invest in making it look more like a musical instrument. Or, just something that doesn't look like some kind of Surgical tool. Imagine your guests seeing this thing sitting on a countertop table somewhere. . "What the heck is this!?" lol. But it does help. You ma want to project, and this will let you do it, fairly comfortably, and reduce a good amount of the noise.

Singing practice anytime.
Great! I use it every day. And is very discreet when I use it at night. Only downside is, in order to get good oxygen while inhaling, I have to remove it from my face for that couple of seconds. Otherwise itโs great I like it.

A Vocalists Must-Have!
I was a pro traveling vocalist for over 20 years, rock & metal. I still sing every single day, no matter what. In fact I've only missed at most maybe a dozen days since 2001. Not a typo. Many years back I built a full-fledged, full-sized soundproof vocal booth to sing in, but since moving to California in 2004 it's been a challenge to sing full out without bothering or disturbing family or neighbors. This device has almost magically changed that. Simply put, it does what it claims to do, which is reduce the volume of loud singing, significantly. What's especially cool is that I use this device not as shown in the photo above with the female model, with the narrow end beneath the chin, but *upside down*, wearing it like, say, an oxygen mask, with the narrow part fully covering my nose, & the wide end under my chin. What happens when used this way is it still dampens volume exactly the same, but it now takes more breath power as the expelled air travels through the small apertures of the holding cylinder, effectively creating a wonderful *lung strengthener* as you sing. I've used a device meant to strengthen the lungs before, this delivers exactly the same thing. I love it. If it breaks, I'll buy two more to make sure I always have a backup. Highly recommended to serious vocalists and singers. 5 stars. โญโญโญโญโญ

Must buy for vocal warm ups Or training your vocals.
This device is a amazing! You know when your singing or trying to hit them high notes or certain notes and your throat hurts or mouth feels dry. This mouth gadget fix it all! This is a very good product for practice and vocal warm ups. It does smell weird when you get it and look at the picture of how they use it. Im talking about i can sing anything now! you're not suppose to record yourself while using this product. (I mean you can but you'll sound muffled.) It's good for vocal warm ups. Easy to set up and thick product. Ehhh the price is okay.

Great for anyone who is self conscious about others hearing them rehearse!
I just wanted to leave a review because I love this thing. My coach has me working on volume and TroyStudio Vocal Dampener allows me to be as loud as I need to be without worrying about who can hear me. Prior to using this, I was holding back for fear of disturbing people or them hearing me when I missed notes ๐ฌ. Also, my understanding is that holding back could be counterproductive to my vocal development, so I was elated to find out something like the TroyStudio Vocal Dampener existed. Now, don't get me wrong, it doesn't make you sound like a whisper. I'm still hesitant to fully let go in the dead of night, but it does make you maybe 50% softer than if you were singing without it (pure guess, didnโt do a decibel test). I donโt really know how to tell you about sizing, but for reference, my head is that of a 5โ8โ 150 lb male (slim build). It naturally creates a good seal on my face, and if I need to, I can push down a bit harder for a better seal. I will note that I use it upside down compared to the pictures. If I use it as pictured, it still does dampen the voice a bit, but not as much as when I use it like a... gas mask? I just have to pull it away to breathe, which Iโd probably do either way.

Not for Anger- also smells bad
I searched for "scream stick" because I wanted the ability to SCREAM without scaring the neighbors, and this came up. Thing is, by the time you: open the bag, take it out of the bag, and assemble the pieces- you're no longer in the mood to scream. Also- IT SMELLS UNPLEASANT. For something that you are putting up on your face, a BAD SMELL is not a good idea.

You might get some weird looks in parking lots but the thing really works!!!
I have gotten multiple comments on how freaky this thing looks and wild assumptions about it's purpose. But the thing really changed the game for me. I can sing all night and not disturb anyone and it provides the perfect pressure to aid in breath control so I use it sometimes even when I don't have to because I like the resistance. I made some breakthroughs in my technique through this thing and I use it all the time. Money well spent, highly recommend. Keep in mind sometimes it drips out the end if your breath has a lot of moisture in it and you use it for a while. So do not use over electronics. Treat it as an instrument with a spit reservoir and just tilt it out every now and then using paper towel to keep it dry. Easy to take apart and wash. Comfortable and easy to hold on the face. I like the weird handle it gives you options on how to hold it if your arms get tired.

Great
Works really well. Provides enough space as well. The smell is very strong so I donโt breathe in inside of it. Hope the smell dissipates with time.

Handle good for breath control
It's very good at reducing sound. I live in an apartment and I've always worried about disturbing people while practicing singing. This works great. You can't really breathe with it on, mind you, but you can use the handle to slide the mask off every time you breathe. Once you get used to that, it's golden.
