Watched this several years ago,,,, really enjoyed it, wished they made a follow up with this film
Yeah a good sci-fi film to watch.

Surprisingly enjoyable
Aliens try to exterminate humanity movie, but the aliens are electrical in nature which is a good innovation. For once a movie that fits the 12 rating - lots of tension and a few surprise turns, but nothing gory/sexy (little bit of night club dancing but not OTT). People are 'puffed' out of existence in a War or the Worlds kind of way.

Darkest half hour because it only tells half a story
I did not expect much from this movie and got it super cheap, so overall it was kinda worth the money, but overall it suffered from too many flaws to be great value. The characters are unoriginal, and follow most of the standard disaster movie/horror tropes. At no point do you ever really care about whether they survive or not (funnily enough, the supporting characters were more interesting). The special effects initially looked good, but once you see the aliens themselves inside the energy, it all kinda falls apart (and the submarine at the end was laughable). The 3D was pretty pointless as it did not really do anything that was 3D worthy. And then there was the end of the film. It was just lazy.People get to where they are going, but the world is still screwed. The only inkling of what might be is a radio message saying what has been achieved elsewhere.Maybe this was a set up for a possible sequel, which I doubt, but regardless it was almost like the writers just ran out of ideas with regards to how the human race would be able to win.Enjoy it for what it is really. A cheap b-movie.

Great special effects make this worth watching.
This film is worth watching for the special effects, but as other reviews have said, it's otherwise quite nondescript. The story of alien invasion and post-apocalyptic living is not new - young hip characters having fun find themselves running for their lives and fighting hard-to-see aliens. "Cloverfield" had a similar story line, but was much slicker and more professional, keeping the tension racked up throughout. The characters in "The Darkest Hour" are ok, but nothing special, and their acting isn't really much to write home about. I didn't really find myself rooting for them. The script has a few bad one-liners in pretending to be tag lines. Having said all that, the special effects were amazing, and were on a par with many Hollywood blockbusters. A great idea, well-executed, meant that I kept watching, just for those effects. Not a bad way to spend your time, as long as you're not expecting too much.

Surprise B movie fun!
This is actually pretty good! A likeable, low budget, sci-fi B movie with some decent thrills and a few clever ideas. A bit daft but none the worse for that.

Something missing?
Meant to contain 3D, Blu-ray and DVD. Only 3D and DVD in my box. Feel let down as price is for more than I received. Film OK

A very pleasant surprise!
I read the reviews before buying this DVD and was alittle bit doubtful about whether I would enjoy it, but I have to say, having struggled through Skyline ( a very bad film!) I was pleasantly surprised at how good this film is. Being set in Moscow and not USA was refreshing and not knowing the actors made me connect with the characters more. The aliens were new and quite scary and the movie kept pace and I didn't have to fast forward once. I would recommend this film and anyone who is a fan of special effects and the thought of alien invasion, will enjoy it.Happy viewing!

Would recommend a watch 👍
Watched on Prime Video. Surprisingly good film! A bit different to other alien 👽 films out there. Special effects not bad, plays on building up tension! Would quite happily watch again so it's staying in my watch list. Recommended viewing 👍
