Great for the price!
If you are considering getting an in car camera and don't want to spend a fortune then these are worth considering. I've been using two for the last three days and no problems. The leads are are now more than long enough for the front and rear windows on an Audi A6 but you'll need a three way adaptor for two cameras and a phone/satnav etc.It gets FIVE stars because for around £15 each you get a very good package that does the job and for a Chinese import, quite well made. Yes, you can pay £200 plus for hi-tech versions but if these cheap ones break or go wrong you've only wasted the cost of a medium pizza! The quality of the video... for the price... is adequate when used with a decent SD card (Class 10: a pack of two with some good memory for under £20). Night vision is fine within headlight range and under street or motorway lighting. There is a zoom option and day/night settings. My cameras come on automatically when I plug in the car adaptor and switch off when I reverse the procedure( you can override both.) Not sure if they're supposed to do that but they will still run on their own batteries. I haven't timed them to see how long they last under their own power yet. The cameras come delivered with on screen instructions in Mandarin/Cantonese but with a bit of detective work the language options menu will be displayed. The audio is recording all the time on default settings but the sound recording can be a little muffled on some road surfaces . And don't forget... police could confiscate them for evidence after a road traffic accident so be careful what you say about or to the other driver!!

The ones that work are fine but beware quality issues
My tire fitter recommended this unit to me which he bought after being involved in a crash for cash scam. He was delighted with it, but when pressed, he hadn't actually viewed the output of the camera, but he found it an excellent deterrent to people trying to rip him off.Anyway, deterrent function aside, it's actually not a bad little budget dash-camera. It's important to remember that this is optimised for car use, so some of its features are useful as a dash-cam, but unhelpful when used as a camera out of the car. Here are the foibles that mine exhibits.Firstly, if the HD DVR is connected to a power source, I can't turn it off. This was frustrating and a little disturbing initially, but once I worked out I had to unplug it to turn it off, it stopped being an issue. Secondly, as soon as it's connected to a power source, it starts recording. Initially this was very annoying, but when you consider it's a dash-cam, it makes perfect sense. You have to get your head round these things to use them comfortably. It's not really intended to be used with just its battery. The way these dash cameras work is that you add power, they start recording. You stop power, they stop recording, save the file and turn themselves off. The battery makes sure you always get your file saved. Additionally they have a screen-saver which switches the screen off after a few minutes. You can disable it, but it's distracting so it's worth having the screen time out. That's the foibles dealt with. Other than that it's a basic video camera with basic menus and a low-res screen.Video quality is good enough to read registration numbers if the car is close enough to have caused you an issue, but don't expect miracles at this price. Certainly some time spent with a slightly better unit (more expensive too) shows that this really is at the low end of the performance range. It IS perfectly adequate as a crash-cam though. I've uploaded the VLC stats and codec information as customer pictures. I've done the same for the other dash cam DVR I have so you can compare the two units performance. You can set it to record continuously or in a loop of 2, 5 or 10 minutes. Personally I am worried I'd forget to turn it off after an accident and I'd end up recording over the vital footage with me arguing with the other driver, so I've switched the loop function off. I've fitted a budget fast SD card in and I format it as required. The best compromise of quality and file size is the 720 HD setting, but this still comes out as a fairly hefty 300meg/5 minutes at 30fps. This dash-cam takes SD-HC memory cards up to 32gig and records video as one continuous file, so large file sizes are the order of the day. I mention the large file sizes as my other dash cam 1080P Vehicle Car Dashboard IR HD DVR Camera Video Recorder 2.7" Color LCD records video in 10-minute blocks which are arguably more useful. The infra-red feature works for fairly close things up to about two metres away, but it's more a gimmick than a practical function for me and certainly is no use at night in a car, so don't expect great images in the dark. The suction mount is strong and allows a good deal of adjustment. Best of all, it is the standard tripod thread, so it can be used with other small cameras. Yay! Unfortunately as you CAN'T invert the recording everything is upside down. Boo! :-) In fairness this camera is configured for car use where the inversion is not an issue as it's correct for a car, it just limits its use outside of the car. However some other car DVRs allow you to invert the recorded image, so it's worth a thought when buying. One BIG plus of this unit is the swivel screen. It's very useful and now I have dash cameras that lack it, I quite miss it when setting them up.So all things considered, this is an absolute bargain for around fifteen quid. I've noticed the price can be hugely variable on this camera as there are all kinds of clones about, including ones without the somewhat pointless infra-red LEDs which are even cheaper at around a tenner. At twenty quid, this unit would start to look less impressive value and other dash cameras would appeal more for a little extra cash. (See my other dash-cam link above.) If you've got up to £40 to spend, then buy the GW1 E-PRANCE New FHD 1080P 30FPS G1W Black Car DashBoard Video Camera With Novatek NT96650 + 2.7 Inch Screen + 140 Degree Wide Angle Lens + Night Vision + G-sensor + H.264 which is generations ahead of this cheapo unit. However, despite the fact that it's not true HD quality or anywhere near it really, it will comfortably out-perform pretty much every rubbishy CCTV camera in the country by a huge margin. If you can live with the budget image quality, the only significant negative issue this camera has is that of reliability. This is a GREAT value dash-cam with perfectly acceptable image quality for its intended use.

Brilliant ! I thought ! But WHAT about the instructions ?
Bought this to-day, it arrived at lunchtime and it has took me hours to set up properly.. The instructions really need to re-written for the UK. To access the second menu (set up time and date, volume etc,) the manual tells you to press menu twice..incorrect , what it should say is press menu and mode at the same time, use the up and down buttons to alter, and use the mode button to move to the next block on right. On test the unit was brilliant, but number plates were unclear. I have reset the resolution to the finest setting ,and that has sharpened the images up. I have used a 32gb memory card and suppose that recording time may be reduced, but in the case of an accident it would be more useful tohave sharper images...All in all absolutely brilliant for the money. You could spend a lot more and be disappointed.. Be safe out there and good luck !!Update,, unit failed late September, now returned and considering alternative.. not very reliable..maybe I was just unlucky with mine but now not happy to purchase this again.
