A Great 1st Guitar....
After much searching around for a suitable guitar for my wife's birthday we stumbled onto the Ibanez Gio GRG170DX. Being a guitarist for the past,at time of writing, 28 years, I have got and/or have used Fender Stratocasters, Telecasters & Gibson Les Pauls; Strats being my main guitars. For Emma, my wife, she has fairly small hands and fingers and struggled with a thick or rounded neck. The Ibanez has a pretty flat Wizard II neck, very suitable for those with smaller hands. In other news, It's well finished Black colour, has a Humbucker/Single Coil/Humbucker set up for quite a variety of sounds, and is well set up with, I believe, a set of 9's gauge strings. The action is low/Medium and it feels good in the hands. The tremolo works really well too....from gentle wobbles to cool harmonic divebombs..The pickups? They sound great at Hi Gain, high volumes, and they clean up quite well too. On pure clean settings they have a nice snap to them too.So......onwards with guitar lessons for my wife......and she loves it!Great value for money..:-)

I love this thing
What only 5 stars can I get more? I love this thing. sounds great and very well made even if it is a mass produced guitar. came to me in perfect condition and fully intonated. I did have to tune it a little but that is to be expected.Amazing value for money. The thinner neck is very smooth and fast so if you are looking to rock out this is a great entry to mid level guitar. The pots and 5 way switch have great placement and feel nice to the touch.I have had this guitar a few weeks now and have given it some hammer. It will stay in tune when using the tremolo for excessive dive bombing and the like (with in reason). The range is great and the 5 way switch over the 5 pickups offers great versatility.I have it direct into a Marshall MG30CFX amp and it feels like they were made for each other.Well done Ibanez.Don't be afraid of these less expensive Indonesian made guitars they are not at all bad and for a beginner they will be a very good buy. Most of your guitar hero's would have loved something this good as their first guitar. As for the aesthetics well just look at itI could go on and on

Pros and Cons
I have this guitar for 1 year now.Pros: - amazing price- very good fret size- Nice shiny paint- 5 pick ups- 5 ways control- Voulme control- Very good distorition and clean sound for the price, you'd never find better for the price.- stay in tune ( the maximum time was one and half hour playing with litile adjuste between )Cons: - in my opinion the sustain wasnt good, but maybe bcuz i run 15 watts amp?- the whammy bar very useless if you like to walk, jump and run while you playing, bcuz it gonna fall down.

Really nice guitar, but the top E string has buzz ...
Really nice guitar, but the top E string has buzz fret so I'll have to spend money getting that repaired, as postage for a refund is more hassle for me. Shouldn't be too costly but I was expecting perfection out the box as you should, especially with a relatively expensive purchase.

Sounds great string too close to fret board
I brought this guitar because I thought it was time for an upgrade. So I bought this one because its affordable and I'm getting into beginner/intermediate phase of playing. This guitar is a real beauty plays well feels great amazed how heavy it is though. I had to change the strings because the strings they came with don't really hold drop tuning to well. The only other thing was that the strings were too close to the fret board but after a few adjustments it sounds more than £230 real bargin
