Just what I was hoping for .....
Bought this as a Christmas present for my 11 year old nephew. I didn't want anything in a 'kiddie' style which barely worked outside of the house. Equally I didn't want to be paying £200.00. The reviews for this seemed ok, by an large, so this was my choice. I've opened the package to ensure batteries are charged and that the units work. I agree with the customer who said that she didn't think that the belt holster would last that long - doesn't look like it was made for 11 years olds to bash around too much!! In fairness I doubt they'll be using the holders tbh so that's not really an issue. There is a smart well made two socket USB to mains adapter. Two cradles for the handsets to sit in and get the batteries charged up. I've put the batteries in and had a go around the house and they certainly work. Seems uncomplicated and easy to use. I and my nephew too live fairly rurally so I hope he and his pals have a lot of fun messing out and about with the added fun of walkie talkies. These are exactly what I was hoping for, time will tell if they stand up to the testing they will be given. No idea about battery duration or heavy usage battery duration as won't know about that until sometime after Christmas 2017. I don't imagine that the handsets are watertight but they seem well made. Switches and buttons seem well made and substantial, not flimsy and weak. I can imagine people on a large building site or working on different levels of a multi level building for whatever reason finding these a useful gadget. The volume switch is also the on/off button. Volume goes up to very loud indeed. When one presses the button to speak, a light comes on within the other handset. There is auto switch off when unit not been used for some time, in order to preserve battery life. All exactly as described in the item profile. Very pleased all in all. Lets hope they hit the spot on 25th Dec!! If I can remember I'll return to this review around Easter time 2018 and update but I'll happily let anyone know how we got on if you want to contact me.

Look and sound the part.
Very good and yes this is a genuine review from someone totally unconnected to the company in question. Weird as it may be but we use these around the house and garden to remove the need for shouting, even in what is a small house/garden. People with kids will appreciate the amount of getting up, shouting upstairs trying to find things etc. that is involved. I also got these for a family holiday so that we could communicate easily when split up (two on the beach, two in the shop, going to different bits of a massive park). Yes a mobile phone works but this is instant and should you have a call limit on your phone, free. If you were bothered about taking your phone out and about this would also be an alternative for the beach, park etc. and obviously you don't need a phone signal. They worked very well and are simple to use. A small criticism is that the volume can be altered too easily and by accident. Same thing with the channel, until you work out how to lock it. Also, the manual is extremely basic. Charging is quick and battery life seems very good. They come with plenty of charging options including two docking stations. They seem robust and one has already survived a brief encounter with an incoming tide. Fortunately it wasn't totally soaked, according to the wife. The range and clarity are fine for what I need. Clarity is actually very good. Range approx. 1km in the built up areas we've tried but I get the impression it would be more in a rural area. So an useful item that so far has worked very well.

Great fun set of walkie-talkies
Walkie-talkies are one of those things that once you start to use them you wonder how you managed without - much like mobile phones are.I go these for an orienteering bit of fun with the kids when whilst the purpose is to get to one point and then another its also useful to know where to find someone who has got lost. These have a good range and much better than a set I have for the kids to play with normally. With volume and selectable channels (16) you can adjust these to your hearts content and not get interference from other sets.In the box you get the 2 handsets - 2 desktop charges - 2 bet clips - 2 power supplies 1 rechargeable batteries and I even got 2 manuals. No explanation needed for how to turn on and use but with the energy saving feature these lasted for hours on stand-by and the mini-usb socket either plugs into the charge stand or into the hand set itself.

Great little radios, but NOT LICENCE FREE
These are great value units and the radios themselves seem fairly robust. However the belt clip holster is a bit plasticky and I don't think it will last long. The radios are a great compact size and very thin, especially without the belt clip.Battery life is very good. Standby time without transmitting is up to about 3 days!Sound quality is good and the volume goes quite high without distortion. They come with charging docks, but they can also be charged via mini usb, so great for travelling. They also use the ubiquitous old Nokia mobile batteries, so cheap spares are easy to get. However, a word of warning: These arrive programmed to some random frequencies that are NOT LICENCE FREE. So you would be breaking the law using these out of the box in the UK, since you would be transmitting on someone else's commercial licensed channels and may cause interference to others. However the channels can be easily reprogrammed with a cable, bought separately for about £5.They would get five stars if they arrived programmed to licence free channels, as most people would be unaware that they are breaking the law by using these without reprogramming them.
