Pristine audio quality
I first became aware of this superb little Lavalier mic on You Tube. Curtis Judd (who is a photographer/videographer) had tested this and provided many other tips too.I purchased this to use in conjunction with an audio recorder (Tascam DR05 Version 2). The uses I have for this mic/setup is to use to record voiceovers for my video reviews, screencasts and I have to say that this allows me to do a really polished and excellent quality recording. At £20 (which personally I find an absolute bargain for this kind of quality), it's only natural that it isn't going to come with lots of bundled extras (such as a carry case/pouch) basically you get the mic and a rather sturdy metal alligator clip for to clip the mic on to your clothing, the mic clips into a little rubber notch on the alligator clip. The good thing with this alligator clip is, if it breaks, its just a standard type of alligator clip, which means you can purchase pretty much any mic clip and it would be fine. Interestingly, mine came with a couple of foam windshields (even though the item description doesn't mention this). Other than what I've mentioned, there's nothing else.Bear in mind, that this mic is mono, but this is all you need for recording dialogue and too be honest mono is the best choice for recording dialogue. If however, you connect this to an audio recorder (such as the Tascam DR05 or the Zoom H1) you will end up with just a left track (basically audio will only come out of the left speaker, this is due to those recorders having a stereo mic input port). However, it's a quick and easy job to do a mono conversion and remove the silent right channel and then have audio coming out of both the left and right channels/speakers, you can do this with a free application such as Audacity or a paid for application such as Adobe Audition, this process is easy and takes around 10 seconds to do, once you know what to do, it really isn't a big deal. The build quality of this mic is very good and goes extra to make this mic outstanding value for money. To sum up:If you are wanting an excellent quality mic and don't want to pay a small fortune for one, then the JK Mic-J 044 should be at the top of your list.

Great for the price.
Great mic for the price. With a little bit of post production it sounds very good. I like it.

No comparison for the price range
I bought this to use as a lapel for vlogging and I must say it performs exceedingly. I also own a cheap Audio Technica lapel and the JK is notably better. I use it with a Zoom H1, it is a mono mic so only appears in the left channel but this can easily be fixed in a free program such as Audacity. The cable is short but of course extensions can easily be purchased (which I would reccomend if you want to plug directly into a camera). The sound is warm and rich yet still clear, though not as clear as a high end mic would be. If you don't want to spend more money then I would reccomend no other mic than the JK. Very impressed for such a low price.

for me this was an excellent start. the clip too was small and unobtrusive
There are many cheap { and generally nasty } ' clip ' mics available for around £10, they work but mostly badly. On unpacking the JK I found it to be much smaller than it appeared in the photo, for me this was an excellent start. the clip too was small and unobtrusive, another plus, and unlike most other lapel mics there was no nasty plastic clip to hold the mic { these always break off sooner or later, usually sooner }. In place of the plastic clip there is a rubber ? mount into which the cable is pressed, excellent. Finally, much of what I do involves hiding the mic under clothing, this JK mic was placed under two layers of clothing using sellotape ? to hold the mic in place, testing it out using a Zoom H6 found no discernible noise from clothing or the mic itself. I rate this little microphone highly and for its price excellent value for money.

Don't bother - buy something more reliable....
Bought this mic and it simply doesn't work. Connection to recorder is loose and it makes an awful crackling sound. Recorded audio is unusable.Due to good reviews Ive read and watched regarding JK mics I purchased a second JK 044, hoping I was unlucky with the first purchase. Unfortunatley it was the same - loose connection and horrible crackling audio.. Very disappointing!I have since purchased a more expensive mic which I am very happy with. Sorry JK, but I couldn't recommend anyone to buy your mics and would suggest that people should pay a few extra pounds and buy something more reliable (i.e. something that works).
