Squirrels are baffled!
Ordered this to stop squirrels stealing from bird feeders, after I found one squirrel hanging upside down, like a giant furry slug, eating all the bird seed! The clear plastic baffle is quire big and easy to fit. It does the job perfectly and there are no more squirrel raids in my garden. It does need cleaning regularly to remove bird poop, but it's quite easy to do this with an old scrubbing brush and some bird hygiene spray. Highly recommended to keep squirrels away.

Keep clean and it works well
This is the only item I've bought that works against the dreaded squirrel attack on bird food stands. So long as you keep it clean, they cannot get a grip on it. The squirrels seem to be totally beaten by it.

Nothing else compares
Birds can carry disease and every bird feeder you buy states the importance of cleaning the feeders from time to time and washing your hands after each refill. Then the birds cr*p all over the feeders including a dome like this so it has to be cleaned. Squirrels look cute and it feels cruel to harm them but they kill birds and their young, destroy trees by exercising their lifelong-growing teeth on bark which you can see easily if you start to look, carry disease which introduced bubonic plague to the UK from the Americas if I have my history correct, and finally wiped out our native red squirrel,. Also if you took an injured grey squirrel to the vet he/she is obliged to destroy the creature because it is classified as vermin, a rat with a tail. All these animals are ungrateful and mercenary and would no doubt eat the choicest bits of us if we dropped dead in the garden. So why do we bother spending our money on bird food and buying a feeding station and all manner of contraptions for feeding and then buying more contraptions to stop other animals getting to the food of those we are targetting? I don't know, it's crazy but we just do.Having got that out of the way, this squirrel baffle is my second and only replaced because a winter or two makes the plastic brittle and is then prone to cracking or will shatter if the feeding pole takes a strike, this is the reason I put this as 4 stars and not 5 stars. As a design it is fantastic. I have seen many squirrels try and climb the feeding pole but none have got past the baffle. They are fantastic climbers of course but not with this. In contrast squirrels ate through any type of heavy duty feeder I used in the past with all their cunning and determination and reached every other feeder hung on the pole before the baffle, on a shed or even on a house wall. They are relentless! So you need to place the feeder intelligently once the baffle is added. If you put it too near a tree a squirrel will jump from a branch or from another platform, if you place a feeder too far into the open then the birds are vulnerable to a swooping hawk or kite. So it's a balance against these rare events and you can't cater for everything. The baffle comes with an adaptor fitted catering for two different thicknesses of pole so you remove it if you are using a thicker pole. All in all, a great product.

Effective deterrent
Easy to fit, very effective and doing its job

Quality product but somehow.....
Quality product but somehow the squirrels still get on the feeders!? They can't climb up from the bottom as the baffle does it's designated job, therefore they are either jumping a distance from the shed/fence/tree (although, I can't position the feeder any further away) or they're parachuting in......Ggrrrrrr. I've Copper Greased the metal threads and will inspect periodically to unsure longevity. The plastic dome requires only lime detergent and a cloth to clean. It fits my Gardman bird feeder station perfectly.

AT LAST SQUIRREL PROOF FEEDER
It's stopped the grey army of terrorists from stealing all the bird food, completely. My only criticism is you have to clean it from the falling bird poo regularly and the squirrels tried to eat the inside plastic screw washer, it should come with a steel cap washer. So upon a slight up grade of a holed bake bean tin lid and done jubilee clips, now safe as houses. Maybe a possible manufacturer upgrade required. Otherwise brilliant and great fun to watch but the squirrels soon learn and do not come back

Baffled a Squirrel within an hour of being fitted. Edited 18/04/18 Still baffling squirrels
I fitted this to my Gardman Complete feeding station yesterday evening, roughly 1.5 metres up the pole so the squirrels couldn't jump on to it. Within an hour one of them came sneaking across the lawn, looked at it for ages then scampered up the pole as far as the baffle....then down again...then up again....then down again. Had another look at it then shuffled off sulking and twitching his tail. This morning he has had another go with the same result. Last seen on the fence 12 feet away from the feeders working up the courage for the greatest leap of faith. I watched him for a few minutes but he hadn't worked up the bottle before I left for work. If I get home to find him sat on top of the feeding station, I will repost, although in fairness this baffle is only supposed to stop squirrels from ground level scampering up the pole, the way I have it fitted and so far it has worked. It can of course be fitted as a hanger with the feeder below it as hooks and adaptor are included. The key is to position the feeders away from trees, fences, anything the squirrels can use to get closer before leaping, and have the baffle positioned high enough up the pole so that they cannot jump past it on to the pole from ground level.Seems expensive for what it is but I will probably recoup the cost in saved food within a few weeks.Edit 18/04/18This has paid for itself in saved bird food. The baffle still works and the squirrels still can't get past it. Great purchase. Made the mistake of positioning a table and chairs close enough for a squirrel to jump on top of the baffle. He was soooooo close to a rewarding feast until I went out, he jumped down and I moved the table and chairs. Squirrel has gone back to sulking.

Squirrel-proof
This was a replacement baffle as we had had the previous one for a few years and it finally fell apart. We have never discovered anything else as effective in keeping squirrels off the bird seed. Easy to put in place - would definitely recommend it.

Ratten ausgetrickst
