UltimateAddons® Motorcycle 5V 3.1 Amp Power Supply 2 USB Ports & Cigarette Socket Handlebar Mount

Just fitted this to my Motorcycle using the crashbar frame as there is no space on the dashboard and i don't like drilling holes into the bodywork. I'm using it to power my iphone and i also carry a 12v tyre pump which conveniently plugs into the cigar socket. Its waterproof and lights up nicely at night. Wire it to an ignition live to avoid power drain. a nicely made product.

I like this unit. Easy to fit. Just run cable to battery. Fit bracket to handle bar after attaching unit) and that’s it. Has switch on body for on/off. That is illuminated when on. Comes with in line fuse. Has 2 usb sockets under waterproof cover and 1 cigar lighter socket under a separate cover. Used it for a 9 hour journey twice and it worked perfectly.

This is a well made and high-quality unit. It is reasonably well weather-sealed when not in use, but wouldn't be waterproof when you have a cable plugged into it as you have to open the covers. It has a pair of USB outlets and a 12v cigar lighter socket. The USB sockets have a (sealed) illuminated switch so you can turn them off in order not to use battery power when not in use (all USB sockets use a little power even when nothing's plugged into them so this ensures you don't come back to a flat battery). The 12v socket only draws current when something is plugged into it so the switch does not control it.The unit includes an inline 10 amp blade fuse and comes with a spare. The cables are thick and well insulated. Also in the kit are a few black cable ties so you can secure the wiring to your frame or existing wiring, a 'round the handlebar' mount and a sticky-pad mount. Unfortunately the mounts rather let the kit down as they are both flimsy plastic. The handlebar mount does come with three rubber spacer rings so it ought to fit a variety of bar sizes but it's just a narrow, thin plastic band with a simple thumb screw to hold it closed.I have mounted this on my Honda Goldwing. The bar mount had no chance of going round the massive handlebars but the sticky pad mount attached very nicely to the inside of the left-hand 'glove box' and I threaded the wiring through a hole in the box, under the console and down to the accessory terminals on the fuse box. Works brilliantly.Giving four stars because the flimsy mounts let it down a bit but the actual product itself would be a five otherwise.

OK so it might seem odd to start with a criticism but let's get it out of the way... The mounting is rather flimsy and difficult to handle as it is very small. However once on it works fine, I would suggest augmenting it, once it is in the right place, with a ty-rap or two to stop it from moving.The waterproof tops seem to do the job though on the USB you have a the issue that if you are only using one connector then it is basically open to the elements. I happen to have a useless USB WiFi dongle and that fits under the cover but otherwise you might get dust and stuff in there.The switch works well and is clear to see even in bright sunlight and the power provision is just great, this is for me a "must-have" accessory and works very well.

Easy to install and looks solid built

Fitted prior to a recent road trip around Ireland to maintain mobile and charge a satnav. Proved most useful. However I would manage your expectations by saying that if you have an unfaired bike do not expect to perform charging via the 12v socket while in motion without some kind of fixing. Obviously you can't do it in the rain but I tried to use the 12v "ciggy" socket to charge the satnav but wind kept dislodging the plug. This may not be a problem if fitted behind a fairing but if you're naked then think again. In the end I just used the USB 2A connectors (they're small enough stay put in wind) to charge an ANKER portable power pack. I then charged all my apparatus at night from the power pack. I've since used a small elastic bungy/band to keep the 12v socket in place (see picture). It seems to work. Would be great if the manufacturers had devised and supplied something similar that kept plugs in their socket.Also, in line with other reviewers, the handlebar fixings are not as robust as I would have liked. The variety of rubber grommets that allow fitting to variety of bar widths are a pain to use. I obviously didn't use the right ones as they blew out and off during the trip and the socket was flapping around until I got home. Since utilised some more grommets I had spare and applied some silicone mastic to make sure it stays put.The plastic bracket seems flimsy and is fixed by a handsrew. It really needs to be tight especially on a naked bike (see picture).Fitting (direct to battery) was straightfoward and I was assured by the fused connector. Was advised to get a 'switched' charger so as to prevent potential batt discharge. So this unit fits the bill. However noticed after riding during heavy rainfall that the switch casing isn't waterproof. So that might cause concern if the unit potentially shorts against the frame or such like mishap.Overall, looking at the quality and price of other chargers this is about the best of what's out there. If they improved the bracket fixing and improved the quality of the casing then UltimateAddons charger would be obvious choice.

Quality perfect fit for my GS adventure bike highly recomended.

I bought this expecting it to be as said a 3.1 charger. The add is misleading and so is the box. This is only 2.1, not what I was expecting or wanted.

funziona bene, montato sulla moto. Fa il suo dovere. Usato per controllare amperaggio batteria.

Excelente conector auxiliar doble; fácil de intalar. Totalmente recomendable

03.09.17 Ich habe das Gerät nicht am Lenker, sondern im Staufach meiner NC750X mit dem außerdem mitgelieferten zweiten Halter und daran befestigen Klebepad angebracht. Das Kabel ist sehr lang und sollte für die meisten Befestigungsvarianten reichen.Mein iPhone 6 lädt über einen der USB Ports, sogar Recht schnell (5 Minuten 10%). Schalter On/Off ist nicht leichtgängig, man kann das Gerät also eigentlich nicht aus Versehen aktivieren. Langzeittest folgt.
