Is the lid meant to flip open by itself when you press the button, or do you have to lift it open by hand? Thanks!

Sorry there's a button you press to open the lid.

Does it have sounds ?

If I remember correctly it has an engine sound and it vibrates as well. However -it's quite a while since I bought and gave it as a gift.

Is a 4 year old too old for this toy?

Oooooooh yes . I bought this for my eldest when he was 2, my three year old will still play with it occasionally , four year old is completely disinterested in it

Has this toy got the British kite mark

I can't say for sure as box got thrown away but it's a very sturdy toy and is very robust.
