Caran d'Ache 849 Metal Range Ball Pen Fluo - Orange,1 Count (Pack of 1)

So, I'd used this pen prior to buying it so I guess it's kind of cheating to say I'd known I'd love it this whole time? Regardless, this pen is brilliant, has that deliciously soft, blue colour and glides greatly against both my Clairfontaine paper as well as regular, low quality school paper. The ink rolled out much nicer than I'd remembered ballpoints to do so, and was generally a pleasurable writing experience that I have to say, I had the honour of having. I had become a fountain pen snob for a year or so and after having borrowed this pen for an exam and a lesson or two, I had fallen in love with it. The size is pretty small but it feels somewhat nicely weighted somehow and the "Swiss Made" imprint really helps to drive the point that you're paying for quality in a fun and small package, brightly coloured and different to everyone else's pens, this is definitely one I won't be lending out! To anyone doubting the smoothness of this pen, I've bought a Pilot Metropolitan, which has to be the smoothest fountain pen I've ever used and a Waterman Carene, synonymous with gliding across the page, this pen is on par with those in terms of smoothness and how pleasurable the experience is! I'd love for there to be a full sized version of the pen to fit the larger size of my hand but I'm fine with using the smaller, more compact and cute size.

And its Goliath ink refill goes on forever. Have bought 2 extra Goliath black ink refills (2 in pack), and is much cheaper than Caran d'Ache website. Mine is fluorescent pink. Love its colour. Made from extruded aluminium this 849'er feels weighty, but sits beautifully in my hand. Arrived in only a cellophane bag, but nevermind, it's a beautiful pen and will last me a very long time. I also bought husband the black POP 849'er which is arriving in a slim, but beautiful case, so it can be put back inside when not in use. Its case is hinged, the ballpoint pen sits nicely inside, so being a pen appreciator he will be well pleased.

I have several of the caran d'ache pens and really love the way they feel - im starting a new job so wanted to get a new pen to celebrate the change and chose this fab bright pink option - it's really nice and heavy and writes lovely - super happy

First, the colour, it’s very bright, seems to be a paint lacquer finish. Standard 849 construction, now my default ballpoint pen for work and home. Mine has a slight roughness when clicking, likely it’s the spring rubbing on the inside of the pen body. Would recommend despite the clicker as the aesthetic design of the pen is fantastic. Edit, I’ve since fitted a Parker gel refill, small modification to the refill and change of spring, but now has a better writing experience and clicker works better with a slightly stronger spring.

I keep this as my 'handbag' pen & keep it in sight at all times if I ever loan it out! It's just fun, it's bright orange & easy to spot. Is it the best pen in the world? Don't know - but it is a happy pen :o) The cartridge that came with it didn't last long, but a replacement has lasted a while longer.

This Caran d'Ache 849 fluo pen is smaller than my usual 888 infinite model. As this pen is made from aluminium it is very light, and great for your handbag. I also love the colour, it is super bright which makes it easy to find. The design of the pen is nice too. Was a bit disappointed that the refill was not black ink as stated in the listing, but blue ink, though it writes smoothly as expected.

nice pen, but really disappointed that there was no case or sleeve, just a loose pen. I bought this as a gift and have decided to buy another pen with a case.
