Buy this pen
This is a fantastic pen. If wielded the right way, the artist can accomplish lines as fine as any a fountain pen might produce, and without the annoying hassle of leakages and frequently broken nibs. The pluses are: - You can draw on two sides of a sheet of paper, and the ink dries instantly, not flooding or causing paper to warp. I have done such on thin, low quality paper. - Versatile. I used this on high, artist quality paper, which is rather porous, but regardless this is always like writing with silk upon silk. - I highly recommend artist quality paper, as the tones and indentations will add definition and pizazz to your works, but as there is no bleeding this is not mandatory at all. I would say, try traditional rice paper, but only if this is specific to an effect you wish to produce. There is no requirement to use paper that is thick, as the ink is of such a type that bleeding does not ever occur. - Attractive design. This is obviously not an expensive pen, but is aesthetically pleasing, the parts being joined with brass rings rather than plastic. It is the length and girth of a traditional Tsume (meaning claw) pen. I recommend that you buy a refillable cartridge, though the disposable Kuretake cartridges are hardly excessively priced compared to - ahem! - the OTHER brand, yes Pentel, we mean you.

Cool pen that I can't use because I suck
This wasn't exactly what I was expecting, which to be fair isn't the fault of the product or the seller. I assumed the pen would have a relatively rigid nib with a certain amount of flexibility to achieve some flowing detail when sketching. I'm not sure why, now. Essentially it's a paint brush attached to a cartridge pen. It's actually pretty cool, but requires more skilled hands than mine to make the most of it. On the upside, it came from Japan surprisingly quickly and I was blown away by the low cost. It also feels like a quality item, and in lots of ways I'm very pleased to have it. Addendum: I don't actually suck as much as I thought. I've figured out how to use it, or at least a way that I can use it, and I have to say it gives brilliant results. Bumping up to 5 stars!

Gosh this is just my most FAVOURITE pen. The lines it makes are so nice and smooth and the point is so fine that you can make such tiny details. Only down side is the pen cartridges. The cartridges are not waterproof, at all, They will bleed like crazy when even a speck of water hits it. Plus, it ruins the ink on the paper as it gives this weird blue halo affect as well as the ink getting muted and just generally looks bad. I'm a watercolour artist, so I replaced the ink with platinum Carbon ink cartridges. It's the same size and have the little ball in the cartridges as well, just that they're waterproof this time. Besides that, fantastic pen, Absolutely adore it. Would recommend it to anyone who wants to try using brush pens for inking.

Fabulous
Maybe brush pens are old hat but I'm new to them and really impressed by this one. The brush comes to a beautiful point, easily as good as my sable brushes, allowing hair like lines. The ink flows beautifully. I'm sold! Incidentally, anyone who thinks a sable version would be better, I'm not sure I'd bother. Sable out-performs artificial in a normal brush not because the point is better, which it is not always, but because they hold so much more ink for their size. A brush pen solves this problem neatly with the added benefit of being humane.

Professional Brush Pen
I am a professional Artist; I use this brush pen for my artwork. The brush holds its shape, with a smooth ink flow, enabling detailed work to be achieved; great for comic artwork and illustration. The brush pen is lightweight, feeling like working with an ordinary paint bush, having a paint brush length. The ink, which comes with the brush pen is not as black as I required. But it was easily remedied by acquiring 'Platinum Carbon Ink Cartridges,' which fit this pen.

Had to throw it away
I used this pen for a while and after only a month or so of using it, it began to leak onto my fingers. I began using it to fill in stuff but I couldn't hold it properly because of the leaking. The brush nib then began to leak out a bit to much ink which is not good. I am really disappointed as I was looking forward to keeping it and using it for my line art but I have just had to bite the bullet and throw it out. Perhaps I was unlucky and got a damaged one but this has never happened to me with a brush pen. I may buy another one at some point as I have a few refills lefts.. but honestly the price is a bit to much.. we will see.

An excellent tool
It's the only brush pen I've ever used, so I cannot do a comparison, but I find absolutely nothing to complain about: - the ink flows well but not too well - the brush is flexible and allows for quick, expressive strokes - the brush tip is pointy and allows for thin hairlines

Great pen; ink could be better.
Pros: ++ Tip is a touch finer and more consistent than Pentel and other similar-price equivalents. + Generally a high-quality feel, seems very well made. + Included ink dries very quickly. Cons: -- Included ink (and presumably refill cartridges) is very slightly brown compared to other brush pens I use (let alone liners). - Tip is slightly more rigid than other brush pens, so it doesn't feel as though it flows as well. (Of course some people may prefer the extra resistance.) Overall, good but not perfect. If you don't use multiple pens on the same piece then you'll likely be fine with the ink colour, in which case this pen is pretty unbeatable at this price. Unfortunately, I do use multiple pens on the same page, so the ink colour stands out; if the ink was more properly black it would be my new standard brush pen.

A superb brush pen
I really like using brush pens with waterproof inks in my watercolor paintings so I got different models from different brands. Out all 6-7 brush pens that I own from different brands, I like this the most. They have a very good built (The body is made of metal and has a sleek design), The brush tip is very pointy and you can use platinum ink converter to refill it with any ink you like (I use Sketchink by Rohrer & Klingner with them which are awesome too) Anyhow, I definitely recommend it specially over the Pantel brush pens.

Fantastica!
