Wonderful as a present
Beautiful colouring book that I bought as a present and for an amazing price! Mine came without the main cover as I chose it for a lower price from Amazon outlet, however the inside cover is beautiful and already great as is, so it didn't affect the quality of the present at all. A delight to look at and lots of fun, with a game you can play inside. Definitely recommend these colouring books as the person I bought this for already owns another also by Johanna Basford - they're great fun (even for adults) and take you back to your childhood! A real stress-reliever, you can concentrat on something other than whatever's on your mind for just a minute. You might be surprised at how much you enjoy this (if you're an adult). Obviously it would be wonderful for any child as a gift.

A fantastic colouring book from the top artist in this field
A simply gorgeous book. The paper and print quality in Johanna's books are always of a high standard and this book is no different. The paper is slightly off white and very smooth, it takes a small amount of water if using watercolour pencils although will start to crinkle if you use too much so better to stick with dry mediums if you want to colour every picture.I find that the images in this book are more detailed than those in Enchanted Forest so it is best suited to coloured pencils or fineliners. The printing is double sided so if alcohol markers are your thing you will need to choose which image you prefer. Also the images go all the way into the spine making removing the pages tricky (but there will probably be an artists edition soon for that). The range of images covers all sorts of subjects, for example fish, mermaids, jelly fish, whales and shells.

Paper Not As Good Quality.
I've given the book a 3 star rating until I colour something in. I didn't read any reviews before buying this as the other two titles were high quality that I felt confident enough to jump in blind. I know there were issues with the colour of the pages on the other two titles with some buyers receiving bright white pages and others relieving cream. I recieved cream versions of secret garden and enchanted forest and even between those two there's a significant difference, I wasn't to bothered if I recieved white for lost ocean thinking the quality if the paper would be the same.My copy has just arrived, it's printed in Italy if that makes a difference. Yes the pages a bright white, which makes the book look lower quality, although I appreciate this is just personal preference, however on feeling the paper, it's a lot thinner than the other two titles and does not feel anywhere near as nice as the other two. Flicking through to see the images doesn't feel as magical as it did with the other two, and isn't filling me with inspiration the same way. It feels more like a Millie Marotta title, which while they are good, it isn't what I was expecting from a Basford title.I've included a picture to show the differences I have between all titles, for reference my Secret Garden is printed in Netherlands, my Enchanted Forest printed in China and Lost Ocean printed in Italy, if there was an option to choose a specific country I'd return, but as I only bought this to meet the free delivery total on another order I'm thinking of it as a freebie, which makes it feel a little bit more special.EDITED April 2016As promised I've returned, I've now coloured an image and upped the stars to four. I've used felt tips and FineLiners and they didn't bleed, they shadowed a little. I still refer the heavy creamy paper of my other two prints of her previous books, but this isn't as bad as I thought when I first bought it. There's some gorgeous completed works online.

A good add new
Very happy with my purchase. The book is as good as new. Not a mark in it. Always makes me happy when I can reuse items. I shall look forward to spending time colouring in.

The drawings are so good, I just love looking at them
The drawings are so good, I just love looking at them. I'm not that bothered about colouring them in, I just think they are lovely to have! I bought pencils specially, the Ergosoft by Staedtler, and had a go at colouring, the drawings are very detailed and one must be fairly precise (and have good eyesight), no great chunks of scribbling to be done in this book. One thing I noticed is that in the first two books the paper was slightly thicker and a lovely off white. This paper is thinner and very white, I prefer the paper of the first two books. This edition was printed in Italy, as were the first two so someone has made a decision to change the look which I think is a pity.

Honest review
Nice colouring book you can be at it for even a year! I loved it initially but eventually found things that could be improved. The paper is not thick, Iโve added in a photo where u can see if you push on with a coloured pencil (Iโm using the Fibre Castell coloured pencils) you can see from the back that it leaves a dint for the piece on the other side. Easy to rip as well if your pencil is too sharp. With alcohol markers it bleeds through as expected but still for the price they could have included better quality thick paper yano. But it is what it is. I donโt really mind just thought Iโd give an honest opinion. Iโm still going to use it and colour in it, just a little annoying thatโs all really.

Advertised with but NOT GREYSCALE
I bought this book way back in 2016 and have the majority of JB books. They are lovely books but as my title says not Greyscale so why advertise it ( along with others ) which obviously are not. To the experienced eye or those Who've already bought them they won't be disappointed but someone who wants a grey scale colouring book which contains this material would be.I can't take stars off for advertising as the book is very good if that's what you want, just check the second pages for displays of what pictures are like before purchase so not to be upset over purchase.
