Q: if i tape onto a plain low energy or LED lightbulb, will the overall effect be dimmer but warmer orangey light?

Are you serious ! Buy a tinted bulb ! This would look hideous

It's translucent. Never thought of using it on bulbs but it could work but it would only serve to insulate which could be quite dangerous.

Q: would this tape be suitable for repairing the glass on a woodburning stove?

I have an electric stove fire where the imitation coals had burnt through in a couple of places showing the bulbs beneath, due to me using too high a wattage bulbs, so I used this tape to criss cross over the holes, to form a heat resistant coating and then covered the holes with fabric to blend in with the coals. So far the tape seems to have worked and is stopping the heat of the bulbs burning through the polystyrene coals any further. Hope you understand all that and it helps!

Kapton tape is designed to be electrically isolating and the tape and its adhesive are capable of withstanding high temperatures too. Do a google search on 3M Kapton tape data sheets to find out if its appropriate to your solution.
