Electro Luminescence (EL) is caused by high-frequency changes in the electricity and therefore these things ALWAYS give off a high pitched buzz or whine. You notice it less after a few minutes. It's not a product defect it's just part of this sort of technology. Any brand will make a similar noise. The brightness of EL is suited to backlighting alarm clocks and other displays. It is not good as an actual light source as it tends to be intense to look at but does not radiate much. In daylight, you may struggle to even see that it is lit. At night it is decorative but will not light your path and may not be that visible at a distance. Again, not a problem with this product, that is just how EL is.So overall this is a good product, easy to use pretty well made, just don't expect to look like a character from TRON Legacy if you wrap it around yourself.

Shocking battery life. I mean 3 batteries a day! .. ridiculous..

The wire works properly and gives a nice even glow. It is not quite as bright as I expected but it is my first EL wire so maybe that is normal.I am returning this and trying another make because there is a really noticeable high-pitched whine from the battery box/inverter, but that might be fine for your usage scenario. I just don't want it in my house.

Looks good on a shelf but takes a lot of battery power and more annoyingly it makes a constant buzzing noise. Not sure if I would buy it again.

The product DOES NOT WORK. I was really looking forward to using the neon wire, so you can imagine my disappointment... There is no option available to replace the item, so I am therefore forced to return the item for a full refund

Bought for a project as yet unfinished - but the lights are perfect and work so i am happy to wait for the final effect :)
