A glitchy mess
I found this game nigh-on unplayable. The core idea - co-op, crafting and exploration is a great idea. In practice, I spent only a couple of hours doing this. The rest of my time was spent trying to find my fellow players (after 8 hours play I saw NO ONE) and getting stuck in the ground, hillsides and clusters of rocks. What made me stop playing was that when you get stuck in this way, you have to wait for your character to die to respawn! This might take a long time, and you are resigned to waiting doing nothing for that time. Boring, frustrating and not fun. Come on developers, add a respawn option! Might actually make me give it another chance.

Immediately Returned, Unplayable garbage
I absolutely LOVE Nintendo and my switch is my go to console but this game should NEVER have been ported to the switch. It struggles to run on maxed out gaming PC’s so you can only imagine the cut backs they’ve had to make for the switch. The glitches, frame rate drops and graphic pop ins basically making this game unplayable. Not to mention the fact that in the hour I owned this game I spent 20 minutes of it on loading screens and 10 minutes of it rebooting it due to a “this game was closed due to a software error” message.DO NOT BUY. This game is certainly not worth the money, save your cash and time.

I watched a couple of people on YouTube streaming this game for Xbox One and this convinced me to purchase it hoping it was going to be an excellent game. I installed the game on my Xbox as you do every other title and booted the game. Went into Single player and waited for the game to load. I am being honest and truthful right now, Ark is the laggiest game I have ever played on my console. Not to mention the "motion blur" whilst playing and also the dinos that spawn out of nowhere. I don't know whether it is the fact that my console is old or the game but if you want to spend your hard earned like £30 - 40 pound on this, don't bother. I bet Call of Duty runs better than this game!

Awsome
Best game in to world to me I have played it almost every day sins I got it and I am now the king on the server you get to tame animal build where ever and what ever you want and get to breed Dino's to insane levels tame water Dino's and have wars on pve and PvP it's a long road on the PvP side of things. There are weekly events like X2 tame and gather and from time to time X2 breeding it dose not go on so much now as it did back then but from time to time it comes back and I love it and with all the holidays having the on event on ark you get some crazy looking Dino's that are one of a kind that only you have so yeah get the game.

Still an unfinished game 1 year later!
I played this on my Xbox One X in game preview over a year ago.It was buggy, had poor frame rate and needed a lot of work, but it was fun and the idea was a great one.So I thought now it had finally been finished and the price had for some reason jumped to that of an AAA rated title, it would now be the great game that it should be.Unfortunately I was wrong, the idea and concept of this game is a licence to print money. It is a fantastic concept, a detailed survival game with dinosaurs and being able to upgrade your tech from rocks to guns, whats not to like? The graphics on Xbox One X are that of the first generation of games, I would even go as far as almost xbox 360 graphics. Screen tearing, blurry and pixelated scenery. A frame rate which drops to unplayable at certain points. I would not even go near this game if you don't own an Xbox one X as it barely even runs on the Xbox One core machine. They have had a year and it still looks the same as it did when I played it in 2017, it has then somehow been released as a finished game and been slapped with a silly price tag. I appreciate there is a small team developing this game, but they seem more focused on releasing paid DLC rather than fixing the core issues of the game. How this got released as finished code I will never know, its a buggy, glitchy mess with frustrating gameplay.Wait until its in the bargain bin, or another year before they finish it before buying. The only thing it has going for is its charm and overall appealing concept. On paper it sounds amazing, but the reality is an unfinished, disappointing mess.**Edit** I have actually been playing for a few days and despite the frustration, I am actually enjoying this. I still do not agree that the quality is there yet or that the price is acceptable. But I am starting to see the appeal. I have now revised my review to 3 stars.

Nintendo Switch Version
I have so far played 80 hours on this game. The game is indeed playable in docked mode but really suffers from lag in portable mode. Which is a shame as it is a very good game, it can be incredibly infuriating. There isn’t much in the way of instructions - it took me 4 play throughs to work out what I was doing where to find resources and what to craft. There is a saying on the forums of people who play the game, i saw while researching the game; “you have been arked”. Didn’t really appreciate this until my boat base with all of my resources on was sank randomly by a whale. If i wasn’t unemployed at the moment there is no way I could have time to play this game as 80 hours work can be destroyed with one single bad decision in 30 seconds (you cannot save/load the game manually it does it automatically or when you exit the game). It is a fantastic game if you have a lot of time to rebuild constantly. Online the game is even harder as you have to deal with other people trashing your base and stealing your stuff. Lots of the crafting is quite time consuming as the resources are hard to get, what sucks about this is you can lose all of your hard work so quickly. The graphics could be a hell of a lot better, there could be tutorials (I used the internet instead) and no frame rate issues; when moving between areas it lags sometimes. It doesn’t perform properly in handheld either. Overall I am happy I purchased it, it is a bad port of a fantastic game, if you have the time to play it, it is totally worth £40.
