Classic UK SIM-Free 4G Smartphone (QWERTY Keyboard) - Black

Oh My DAYS! Where has this phone been all my mobile phone years? I've been through phones galore trying to find the right one for me. I bought this model second hand from amo and I have to say going back to a keyboard and qwerty at that is such a wonderful experience. Just holding the darn thing let me know immediately that it is a quality product. The weight is nicely balanced. Fits easily in my handbag or pocket. Never lost connection even when colleagues are on the same network and lose connection on their Samsungs and iPhones. I had an iPhone 3GS years ago was great until I got fed up as it became slow so I jailbreaked it. Then I had a wonderful experience with it as it became faster but the apps only worked for a certain while then crashed. Moved onto Samsung Note 2 and caned the phone. Was a great phone though so went for the note4 and what ahorrible experience. Touch and swype were erratic. Tried the z3 compact but the touch went on it fast. Was a nice phone to hold. I am a very small woman with not long fingers. Exasperated with what was available and missed calls etc not being notified on time etc I wanted to try something different and old skool. Enter the BlackBerry Classic. For an old phone it runs just as fast as my gf's LG5. Which is still lighting fast. Oops I almost forgot I had the LG3 which worked but the battery drained really fast after a year. Now facebook only works in the browser and no notifications within the hub for BlackBerry. The whatsapp is not going to be available soon for BlackBerry users. BlackBerry give us BlackBerry world. Not very many apps and the apps I tried e.g Pocket etc just don't work. You can download apps from amazon and they seem to work better. Not comparable to the lovely Note 2 or LG3. I took the chance and delved into the apk world. Oh my goodness. Many many apps to choose to download and all work extremely well. I tried to incorporate Snap the app alternative incorporating Google play. I haven't been able to incorporate it yet but I'll keep trying. If you have trouble with Snap do what I did and Google for apks for the apps you want. Intuitive downloads MUCH better experience for downloading as you save it within your file manager folder and then install when YOU choose to install it putting the power of installation back into your hands. The ringer can be set to very loud. I'm a bit hard of hearing certain sounds in one ear yet the calls I take are crystal clear. Texting is easier as I like these buttons and find that I can type faster than my buddies with their androids and touchwiz or swype if they come from samsung note background. The BlackBerry Classic for me is an absolute JOY to use just be prepared for learning how to do things differently. I love the hub but wish it incorporated facebook and whatsapp. This is my back up phone. My main phone is the BlackBerry Passport which I got around the same time less than a week ago. I use the classic for round and about town. The passport for longer train or plane journeys. I strongly suggest you look at a few YouTube how to videos for setting up the BlackBerry as it'll prevent frustration.

May be a good device but thick, heavy and bulky. Unfit for proper business usage.

I just spent a horrible month with a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I have returned to Blackberry with the Classic. Two things : the quality of phone calls is magnificent. Remember that ignored function of smartphones known as "phone calls"? You only notice just how excellent the call quality is when you've been on an inferior product. The second thing is battery life. The Classic could have had a glitzy HD screen and a monster processor. By using what is adequate and good enough for a couple of years in technology terms, the Classic does not suck the life out of its battery in half a day. So, if you actually want a mobile telephone that has excellent call quality and a battery that will last, then the Classic should be on your list. The physical keyboard is superb. It was only when I started firing longer and friendlier texts from the Classic that I realised what a horror story the onscreen keyboard on the Note 4 had been. I had been subconsciously minimising all my written communications because each one took so long due to a) the simple awkwardness of the onscreen keyboard,and b) the volume of errors requiring correction each time. For people who have never tried the physical keyboard - do it. (Yes, I tried different onscreen keyboards via Apps,but they were all differing levels of crap). The App Gap. I spent a month on Android and can report the following - 1. You will need to download a bunch of Apps to give the phone the same functionality that it has out of the box on BlackBerry 10, 2. There are a gazillion Apps on Android but many, many of them are garbage, 3. Most Apps on Android require extensive "Permissions" that record a huge amount of your personal activity on your phone (you can choose in detail what to do about these "Permissions" on BlackBerry 10, something which Android is finally getting around to copying but we'll see how well that works), 4. Despite changing all my security/privacy settings to the most restrictive possible, I still had to give away far more of my personal information than I wanted. In all honesty, this App stuff is like the Emperor's New Clothes - who uses all this stuff apart from teenagers? Screen Size. My only gripe. I do a fair bit of web browsing (though very few videos) and the screen is just a little on the small side. There are a few software workarounds which make most web browsing perfectly adequate, but I can't help feeling this would have been a tremendous phone if the screen had been slightly taller. Obviously this would potentially bring in portability and battery issues, but I personally would have preferred it taller. Finally we have BlackBerry's legendary, and deserved, reputation for security and privacy (there's a reason President Obama, Angela Merkel, finance companies etc. are using BlackBerrys today). I can be confident there is little chance of my personal data being sold on, or landing in the hands of undesirables, in a way that I just didn't have on Android. All this begs the question.....what the hell have BlackBerry's pricing, advertising and PR people been doing the last few years? This is a fabulous phone in many ways and should be much more popular than it is. It wasn't helped by overpricing when launched - a BlackBerry trend which has probably been more damaging than anything else the company has or hasn't done - but this device is just so much better than many more popular handsets. To anyone with a a brain and/or a slice of independence - check it out.

I love this phone apart from a few things. It's lovely to hold and the keyboard makes up for it's flaws. If you NEED social media and notifications to be visable then it will take some getting used to. Facebook is basically run from the web browser and if you want message notifications you need to pay for it - major no! There's also no Snapchat and Twitter is about the only one that does work well.... Apart from if your BBM doesn't work which mines doesn't. Going on Crackberry it seems to be a common problem and instead of the phrase 'there's an app for that' it should be 'there's a fix for that'! Aside from all this the Outlook is excellent and better than Android or Apple versions as it includes your tasks and One Note is pretty fab after a few attempts at sigining in. My main gripe would be that another common problem is that I need some apps for work (Slack specifically - which it doesn't accomodate although you can buy the Blackberry version called S10 for £2 which I would but the phone won't let me add a payment method - a known bug - so can't get it which is HUGELY frustrating) So why the 4 stars? This phone is solid and a great phone for calling, texting etc. I'll persevere with it and try and fix some of the issues as it is really nice and a refreshing change from my iPhone but doesn't cut the mustard for social media. Apparently after some reading Blackberry 10 has been problematic and not so much the hardware itself. The phone I received from Amazon was in amazing condition and came with the USB cable.

I had great hopes for this, did a lot of research, and recognised it would be quite different. I can manage change, but I can't accept loss of function. This is a big phone, which is ok - we all wanted a bigger screen. It's a heavy phone - OK, I wanted a battery that lasts a long time, and you can't flip the back off and pop another one in (shame). Build quality is superb - just like the 9900. The killer for me is that this v.10 of BBOS does not support auto-BCC to yourself on sent mail - a must if you need a proper record of sent mail to replicate back to a PC. BB just tell you to switch to IMAP / switch mail provider and rely on the cloud for storage. Every other phone has this, as did the older Bold, and it was there for good reason. Without that the phone is useless to me. With it, I still probably would not be happy - BBHub for messages that puts everything in one place (actually, I do not want texts, twitter, mail, facebook and everything else on one screen). This is for work, and mostly I just want mail. I can see if there is a text and switch to that if I want to on my bold - why not this? Other niggles - for the bigger screen, there is no more information on it because it is dumbed down with big icons at the top and bottom, so a list of messages has almost the same number as the bold. Then some of the older apps are not supported or available any more. Google Maps for example. yes you can get an app that uses google maps, but not the proper google version. I kept finding that people have written apps to overcome shortcomings in the operating system, but overall this is supposed to be a productivity tool and it's just not as slick as the bold. I stuck with BB because I wanted the BB keyboard to punch out messages quicker and more accurately than a glass one. Also the trackpad. None of this counts if the underlying SW is deficient (and this is). So the phone has gone back, and I will continue with the old bold. Which is a shame because BB got right on with the HW - if only they had left the SW alone. Maybe they will get there, but I have to say an Iphone6 or Samsung would be my choice right now if I was forced to change (even with the glass keyboard). Fortunately I can continue with the Bold.

I LOVE THIS PHONE!! I changed up from a Blackberry Q10 which I also liked a lot. I thought the only differences were the extra hard keys and the trackpad but then discovered another difference is a marginally bigger screen, a useful plus. It is still square though so if you use your phone primarily for widescreen video then it is probably not for you although it works well enough in this regard. Otherwise it is mostly fantastic: the keyboard is rock solid and very easy to use; the trackpad works well although you can still use the touchscreen instead; the answer/end call hard keys are infallible; the speaker sound quality is good, Blackberry 10 is fast and intuitive, the app choices are enough for me (if having access to every useful and useless app on the planet is high on your list of priorities then you already know this phone is not for you); the call quality is excellent; WiFi works well. Regarding bluetooth in your car: another reviewer wrote that the Classic wouldn't pair with their particular car. Well I have a fairly new BMW 3 Series and the phone paired quickly and painlessly. Calls work well and I can also stream music (or any audio) to the car and the song info appears on the car's centre screen. Incidentally last time I checked BMW do not make a specific cradle for the Classic but they do make a universal snap-in adapter with accommodates the Classic/Q10 well, charges the phone and picks up the antenna via induction to use the car's external antenna like other adapters. Check it out - my dealer had no idea it existed until I ordered it. To sum up, this is a fantastic phone that will suit most people's needs probably better than many other smartphones. Try it!

I know - I must be one of the few people still using these, but I am unrepentant as i use it mostly for calling, testing and emailing, it its still much easier to do this with a Blackberry phone. This is the first blackberry I've had that I could actually get on the internet with ( the others have been so slow I rarely went through the effort) so that's a definite improvement. As a phone though, I find it less satisfactory that the previous blackberries - I would want the phone to be the default option, but its actually on the third screen options. The screen is also very sensitive, so the number of unexpected "handbag' calls I make has gone up significantly, and its easy t get halfway through typing an email and find you've slipped into a different function. Also, with previous Blackberries, I have been able to select phone setting such as silent or vibrate from the initial screen. Now I have to go into the menu options to change settings, which is irritating and slow, so I've taken to turning it off instead... which leads to my final issue... ... this phone will not stay off!!! I keep turning it off and putting it away, only to find that, with the movement of my handbag or pocket, the damn thing has turned itself on again. This has happened in meetings, in theatres and on planes. I am using the button at the top to turn off, and in my opinion, should have to use the same button to turn back on, but it seems to react to the screen being touched and is back on, sometimes before I have even put it away!

Finally, a phone which feels like quality and performs equally as well. This is exactly what I have been looking for for a long time. It isn't much good if you want lots of google apps or spend ages browsing the internet on your phone, but if, like me, you use your phone primarily to make calls, receive text messages and keep a tab on emails this does all that really well and more besides. The browser is certainly functional and more than adequate but it won't tempt you to spend hours trawling websites (surely a good thing!)The only apps I used to use on previous smartphones were eBay, banking and proton mail. Those three are not compatible with this phone but I'd rather do without them and have a decent phone. I can check those things on a laptop or iPad when necessary. The keyboard looks great and is so, so much better than the full touch screens of other smartphones. For those who began life on the original Blackberry phones, you will not be disappointed with this. For anybody else who is wanting a device which keeps you connected without tempting you to be addicted......I'd suggest you try this. It might take a bit of getting used to but once you do I don't think you will look back. As a former Blackberry user, it took me all of two minutes to get used to it and to love it!

Das ist das zweite Handy von Black berry, weches ich mir bestellte. Dieses Gerät soll als Geschenk dienen. Es gibt keine bisher von mir erkannte Nachteile. Gute Akkuleistung und leicht zu handhabende Bedienung. Es ist ein sehr schönes und hochwertig qualitatives Handy.

Did not meet expectations. Bitterly disappointed. Can’t even log on to my bank. All normal apps cost money and don’t work as well as the other android/apple apps do. Very slow logging onto internet. Hub doesn’t link with the apps as advertised. I wanted to be different and not have a samsung or apple. Looks like I’ll have to go back to apple. Rab Fleming Pulse Inspection PTY LTD 0439692679

Le téléphone me convient parfaitement : clavier + fonctionnalités (photos / vidéos / son de bonne qualité, accès internet, applis de base...) "Etat neuf", bien réinitialisé, mise en route facile (choix de la langue, etc.) Attention, c'est un clavier qwerty mais il n'y a pas beaucoup de différences avec azerty, on s'y fait... Dommage que ne soit pas fourni l'accessoire d'insertion pour carte sim et sd, il faut avoir un trombone suffisamment fin pour les insérer...
