Right tool for the job!
Unsure at first if this was the right tool for the job. I looked at mini chainsaws but didn’t feel comfortable using one. I then stumbled across the DIY friendly Black & Decker Scorpion saw and ordered blindly. The provided Instructions aren’t great as I struggled at first to insert the blade. However, a quick google and it all became clear as there are lots of YouTube tutorials online. Once up and running the blade seemed solid enough for me to cut down an overgrown tree / shrub. The trunks weren’t overly thick and it cut through them pretty easily and quickly as the blade was obviously new and sharp. There’s a nice safety feature on the saw too which is great. Once you release, the blade will stop. Overall I’d definitely recommend this if the job isn’t too difficult or demanding. For the average DIY’er / gardener, I would say this is a safe and effective tool to tackle overgrown small trees and shrubs.

Good tool
This is a very useful saw which can get in many places many replicating saws cannot, the saw stroke is quite short and the blade is robust. Not used but it can be a basic jigsaw as well.

Its perfect
Absolutely spot on cuts so straight and accurate and fast its better than my jigsaw and my makita basic reciprocating saw.I had no issues installing the blades at all simply push the button and slide the blade on and push it down.Honestly its spot on a cut through 9"x9" fence posts easily

Good bit of kit
Bought this saw yesterday. Used it today to cut up a solid oak king sized bed including the metal frame. When using gently push saw back and forth like a hand saw, makes light work. For it's size and the price excellent bit of kit. Instructions aren't very good, but easy enough to figure out.

Almost sent it back
I had a devil of a job fitting the large blade (hidden in a cardboard sleeve; I had to shake the box to find it). The "locating pin" and the "release button" are very, very stiff. But I don't give up easily. I had to use lateral thinking to get the pin in the right position, inserting the screwdriver from the side and pressing the release button with all my strength. Once the blade was on, I again had to hold the release button down and use brute strength to move the blade through 90 degrees to get it into working position. Fortunately, I'll only be using the one blade, so it can just stay on, although of course the machine won't now go back in the box. I used it for cutting a fairly thick branch on a shrub; it took some effort but was still much faster than using a bow saw. You do need to use a sawing action with it. The cable is too short for gardening (just as well, as they don't provide a proper cable tie or anywhere to stow the cable) so I used an extension lead. When I couldn't turn the pin at first I phoned the Black & Decker support line. The person I spoke to didn't understand the problem (which seems to be a common one from other comments here) and just emailed me instructions which were the same as the ones that I already had. I've told them that the retaining pin and release button are too stiff. It's cheap and easy to use once you can get the blade fitted, but unless I was unlucky with a dodgy machine you'll need a lot of strength, patience and a bit of guile to get it on. Don't even think about changing blades regularly for different uses.

Rubbish Saw
Worst product I ever bought. Very badly designed, awkward to use, too much vibration, and doesn’t cut well at all. My ancient handsaw cuts faster and smoother. I’ve had B&D tools for years, and all were satisfactory until now.
