Belkin Laptop Cushdesk for laptops up to 18.4" in Black and Pink

Right I purchased this for use with my Dell 15 inch gaming laptop and i have to say it has come in very handy. First off let's describe the product the top is smooth and hard with a pink ridge at the front which does a good job of preventing the laptop from slipping off. The underside is padded and while the padding is not substantial it does make it comfortable enough for lap use while keeping the weight of the product to a minimum. Now my laptop is quite heavy and using with this product you still feel the weight but it does a good job of spreading the weight more evenly on the lap. Furthermore compared to using the laptop straight on your lap using with this pad gives the laptop a nice flat surface to allow the laptops cooling mechanism to work unobstructed. As I'm sure you all know one of the drawbacks of using a laptop on the bed or on the lap ls that the laptops vents are blocked resulting in temperatures soaring. This product (although it doesn't have any cooling system of its own) gives your laptop that crucial flat surface leaving the vents unobstructed allowing your laptops cooling system to work as intended. Heat is one of the main causes of premature laptop death and so for those of you who use your laptop on the bed or on your lap this is a necessity and will undoubtedly prolong the life of your laptop. Now having said this i would have liked to see a fan built into the mat as you see with other models out there this would have helped with cooling a lot as your laptop does still get warm even while using this. However the key is it does not get as hot as when your using the laptop straight on your lap or bed. For this reason I can recommend this product as not only does it provide added comfort but it does make a difference to laptop temps. Ps for the gentlemen out there it also provides a barrier between your lap and the laptop for those of you worried about any radiation effects! So in conclusion good price good comfort but would have liked a fan built in. However all in all for the price this is a must purchase. It gets 4.5 stars from me but Amazon won't let me give this so I'll round up to 5 instead.

I've tried a few laptop trays over the years and the Belkin CushDesk one is by far my favorite. Its a stylish bit of kit that functions exactly as advertised. I highly recommended this product. I have used it with both my MacBook Pro 13" and my 15" HP Pavilion laptop. The size is good and fits these devices well. However, if you do not use your laptops integrated touchpad and need use a separate mouse, then the surface area may be little on the small side to be practical. The top surface has a nice soft feel to it, but is ridged enough to allow ample air circulation for my HP laptop. My MacBook does not have much clearance underneath so does run a little warm, but not of that heat reaches my legs through the tray. It has a firm sponge for the base which I have found to be very comfortable sitting on my lap while sat on the sofa and whilst lying in bed. I have found that he anti-slide strip is sufficient to keep the laptop from slipping off when tilted a little too much. Overall a fantastic product that is a pleasure to use.

I previously owned a Belkin cushtop and I was trying to find another one but it appears they no longer make them and instead the cushdesk has replaced it. I was really very dubious about the cushdesk as it seemed a slightly different design but I though lets give it ago as there really are not too many well made options out there. I was very pleasantly surprised by the cushdesk and I was told by an IT professional the cushdesk puts the laptop at a far better level for your arms than the the cushtop (was quite high up when placed on your lap). I spend hours on my laptop to the best part of a day most days and this item is comfortable, durable and very well made. I know previous owners have had issues with a Macbook sliding off the cushdesk, I have used it with both the Macbook Air and the standard Macbook and for me no such issues occurred. The cushdesk will take a wide variety sized laptops and will make some of the heavier ones feel a lot more easy on the old legs. I have used the item with it on my lap and on my legs whilst crossed on the floor and the laptop stays level and stable at all times. You can even used the cushdesk for writing on doing anything where you need a hard smooth surface. I would have no bones about recommending this item and my only request would be for belkin to make a lightly smaller version for say 11"-13" laptops as this seems a tad overkill for many laptops these days. Although if you have a mouse connected to your laptop it provides an excellent base alongside your laptop. If a second size was introduced I would gladly rate this item 5/5 because for me it just is that bit too large.

I have owned this product for four years and used it pretty much every day. It is still just as good as when I first got it and has not deteriorated at all. It is a solid strong build, very durable and fit for purpose. So impressed am I with this product, that this morning when grabbing it with my laptop on top and bringing it back to bed I felt compelled to leave a review so anyone else looking for a similar product can know of the long term stability of this. Mostly it has been used on my lap when sitting in an armchair or on the sofa but I recently upgraded my desk set up and have been using it still to raise up my laptop closer to eye level. The foam on the bottom still provides good cushioning and does not seem to have flattened at all, all the stitching is still in tact and it still remains a solid product. The only damage is things I have caused myself, mostly grubby marks on the bottom fabric where it looks like I have spilt drinks or something and some surface scratches on the top, many surface scratches actually, but they are very much surface scratches, the top is quite robust indeed. I am not gentle with my use of this, it has been dropped, had very hot embers dropped on the top and is moved around a lot. It is tough and it will last you a long time. The fabric on the bottom is very durable and the only thing wrong with is my dirty marks, there is no noticeable wear to it, it is very hard wearing and reminds me a little bit of the kind of fabric you find on a car seat. Buying products here can often be a bit of a minefield, with so much choice, which is often not great quality you can end up with low end goods that fall apart quickly, this is not one of those, it is well made of incredibly durable materials. The only way I would improve this product is by making a bigger version, with an 18" laptop there is only a couple inches width left and not enough room to place your phone on the surface too, which would be handy, but I would still opt for this over something that did have that feature due to its hard wearing durability.

I bought this to complement my new Acer Aspire d255 netbook, as I find that lounging back in my recliner chair even with this diminutive 10" netbook on my lap a bit of a hassle (moving your legs, constantly tilting the screen, etc.) & even the relatively small amount of heat emitted downwards by a netbook's fan, irritating. But primarily because I realised that because the Belkin Cushdesk was some 14 cm wider than my netbook, thus permitting me to use a sensitive wireless mouse (Logitech 510 wireless mouse) effortlessly on it to the right, rather than using the touchpad of the netbook (or the arm of my chair or the cat's back, as a mousemat). I'm not a fan of touchpads, & a Logitech 510 wireless mouse, with its tiny little 0.7cm dongle protruding from a USB port is an ideal complement to any notebook, btw, if you're as finnicky as me. The cat objected slightly to having her back used as a mousemat for obvious inter-species reasons, so she can now lie on the right arm of my chair without undue disturbance, so she too is more than happy with this Cushdesk. The pitch of the Cushdesk is ideal for a 10" netbook, it's comfy on your lap, the bar at the bottom prevents your netbook from sliding off, it dissipates the heat nicely, gives you a 14cm area to use a mouse on, left or right, is thickly cushioned underneath, lazy domestic cats approve of it, but is no good for resting a drink on whilst simultaneously surfing the net, as I've tried this. (Tip). I have no idea how good it is for a full-size 'laptop' notebook, but it suits me, and is also very good for resting a Kindle on one's lap whilst lying semi-horizontal & reading it, as we've also found.

I love this, I used to use my old laptop on the arm of the sofa, but it was prone to overheating as it was a poorly designed dell with all of the fans underneath. So when I bought my new laptop I looked into buying a cooling tray or a laptop tray so that I didn't face the same issues. This tray has a cushioned underside, which is firm but comfortable to use, it is a lovely shade of fuschia or pink, I'm not normally one to like pink as a rule, but this is a funky, slightly darker, shade of pink which I quite liked, especially with the dark brown, almost black top. The top is a strong, firm surface with a rubber bar at the lower end to stop the laptop from sliding off, although, so long as the rubber feet of my laptop are free of dust it stays in place on it's own, it's good to have it there as a safety measure. The whole tray is very light and easy to carry. Overall a very good purchase and it even arrived before my new laptop did.

I'm actually not using this for my Notebook. I'm using it as a lap desk with my full size wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. I'm using a 320 X 250 mouse mat on the thing and it looks a treat. It's actually perfect for my requirements. Just pick the lot up and place it on the floor when I need to etc. The item is actually really well made, with a clean smooth plastic, wipe clean surface. The cushion is well padded and comfortable when in use/It's light in weight..you barely know it's on your lap. I've yet to try the thing with my notebook but I'm pretty sure it'll be just fine for that purpose. With all things considered I would highly recommend this unit. The price is good, it's made well..and also looks really smart. I looked at lots of these types of surfaces but chose this one..I'm pleased I did.

This is quite a bulky item. I have a 13 inch MacBook Pro and there are about 5cm of width on either side - enough to rest your hands. I've used it to rest a book on along with a pad for writing notes and it makes quite a good desk. The pad is foam rather than a bean bag and I actually found it getting warm, not from the laptop but from my own body heat. If you have anything in your pockets, it makes the desk unstable. Ergonomically I'm not convinced - the laptop is now higher and further forward which means my wrists are bent up and I'm pivoting on the edge of my hand. You should move the desk further away from your waist to prevent this but then I find the whole thing tips up more when you rest your palms on the laptop. My biggest beef - and what might get it sent back - is the plastic strip at the front. This is designed to stop your laptop slipping off but it is so shallow and smooth that my laptop occasionally slips over it (the angle matches the chamfer on the front edge of the laptop). An iPad just slips straight over it, which is a shame. I'm typing this review using the desk and my laptop and so far so good but my hands are already beginning to ache from the position of my hands. I'm going to use it for a couple more days but so far so not good. I think it's worth remembering that despite the name, laptops are not really meant for prolonged use on your lap. I can't fault the manufacturing - this is a well put-together item with a sturdy flat surface (maybe needs a bit more texture to help with the slipping) - I think it's the concept of a lap desk that I'm really having trouble with.

Die Haltbarkeit ist jedenfalls phänomenal, kaum zu glauben, aber wahr: es sieht heute noch aus wie neu – 5 Jahre später! *** Es ist/war total irreführend (von AMAZON), diese Unterlage im Titel mit dieser Eigenschaft als *FEATURE* zu bewerben, denn diese Unterlage hat weder eine aktive noch eine wie auch immer geartete passive Kühlung anzubieten. Dieses Cushdesk verhindert zwar, dass Laptops ihre Hitzewallungen auf den User übertragen, jedoch verhindert diese Unterlage keinesfalls die Überhitzung des Laptops selbst – ergo ist es definitiv _KEIN_ KÜHLPAD. Ansonsten ist das Belkin *Cushdesk* genau das, was der englische Originalname sagt: nämlich eine Mischung aus Kissen und Schreibtisch – nur: von einer wie auch immer gearteten Kühlfunktion ist auf der Verpackung im englischen Originaltext und auch in der deutschen Übersetzung nicht das Geringste zu lesen! Aber die Hitze des Laptops hält diese Unterlage tatsächlich schon sehr gut ab, keine komischen Schmerzen mehr am Oberschenkel ... Dieses Cushdesk ist wirklich SEHR sauber verarbeitet, vom verwendeten Material her total solide, sehr angenehm anzufassen und dazu noch bis heute (11/2017) an keiner Stelle brüchig oder sonst wie verändert, sieht also nach wie vor gepflegt und immer noch modern aus. Der straffe Stoffbezug der aufliegenden unteren Hälfte fühlt sich sehr angenehm und überhaupt nicht schwitzig an, passt sich dem Oberschenkel an und liegt, auch dank der kleinen Schrägung auch noch sehr gut auf – kein Vergleich mit anderen Schoßauflagen! Als Langzeitunterlage – insbesondere für Laptops, die ein echtes Erhitzungsproblem haben, und infolgedessen gerne mal Knall auf Fall mal ausgehen – ist die Belkin-Variante nicht mehr oder weniger geeignet als andere Unterlagen auch, mal abgesehen von denen, die dann tatsächlich einen aktiven Kühler an Bord haben – die gibts natürlich auch. Diese Belkin-Unterlage ist von daher eher eine Hitze-Barriere, aber immerhin eine, die sehr gut funktioniert. Mein 17 Zöller hält auf dieser Unterlage, allerdings ist er an der vorderen Unterseite auch eckig. Mein kleineres Laptop, ein vorne gerundetes ASUS, rutscht aber leider sofort herunter: während man tippt, muss man mit den Handinnenflächen gegenhalten. Das könnte natürlich auch daran liegen, dass das ASUS von vorne unten leicht gerundet ist, aber sicher auch daran, dass die schmale Rückhalteleiste wohl für dieses Gerät nicht hoch genug ist. Für Abhilfe sorgt nun ein unter dem Laptop angeklebter "Gegenwulst". **** ERGÄNZUNG 02/2016: Für mein Lenovo YOGA Tablet Pro 2 mit einem ausklappbaren Stand ist diese Unterlage dank Rückhalteleiste geradezu ideal, und zwar in beiden Richtungen: der Metallstand hält im Lesemodus super an der gummierten Leiste. Die Unterlage sieht auch heute noch unverändert aus – sehr gute Haltbarkeit !! **** FAZIT Wenn man die vorgebliche Kühlfunktion aber außer Acht lässt, gibt es neben der gefälligen Optik einen weiteren Aspekt, der die Anschaffung von diesem Cushdesk rechtfertigt: dieser mobile "Tisch" wird von mir auch schon mal als echte Schreibunterlage genutzt oder anstelle der bis dato üblichen Kissenunterlage als mobiler Esstisch zweckentfremdet – easy-care Oberfläche sei Dank. Ginge es nur darum, bekäme das Belkin Cushdesk 5 Sterne. Dafür. :) Nachdem mein Cushdesk also auch anderweitig zum Einsatz kommt, habe ich es gerne behalten – und da es wieder einmal "nur" an der Amazon-Beschreibung und somit weder am Produkt, noch am Hersteller hängt, HATTE ich ursprünglich einen Stern abgezogen, in der korrigierten Fassung gibt es natürlich volle & verdiente 5 Sterne, Langzeittest bestanden.

Das Produkt war nach nicht mal 2 Tagen geliefert. Zwar war auf den Bildern nicht erkennbar das "Darksky" blau ist, jeoch hätte ich für meinen Teil sowieso Blau gewollt. Als Laptopablage ideal geeignet. Das Laptop wird nicht mehr heiß da es auf der festen glatten oberfläche steht. Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen. Verarbeitung der Unterlage ist gut und sieht hochwertig aus.

Sto utilizzando questo supporto ormai da un paio di anni, dovendo lavorare da remoto nel periodo della pandemia Covid-19 cercavo qualcosa che mi permettesse di mettermi sul divano con il laptop sulle gambe... so che non è il massimo della vita ma ci si adatta a lavorare dove capita. Devo dire che questo supporto è precisamente quello che cercavo: - ha la superficie in plastica rigida per supportare il laptop senza piegarsi - ha una piccola striscia alla fine del ripiano per non fare scivolare il computer - ha la base (quella che si poggia sulle gambe) in gommapiuma rivestita molto bella da vedersi e pratica perché non è troppo rigida e asseconda bene la superficie dove viene poggiata (le gambe nel mio caso). Il mio giudizio è quindi molto positivo e ve lo consiglio.

Nice & lightweight. However, the tapered edge all around made it just a bit too narrow to properly use with my mouse & a small mousepad. I had to purchase a different one that is completely flat on top & approximately 3 cm wider for the perfect size.
