Very strong if applied correctly
I bought the DenTek Temparin Max Temporary Dental Repair Kit after losing a filling and needing something reliable to get me through until I could see a dentist. Overall, it did exactly what I needed it to do. The application tool is handy and helps place the material accurately, although it is a little on the long side. Because of that, it’s not ideal for teeth right at the back of the mouth, which took a bit of patience to work around. That said, once the material is in place, it’s easy enough to shape and smooth. I found the best results came from applying it the night before. By the next morning it had fully set solid, and I was pleasantly surprised at how secure it felt. I was able to eat normally on the same side of my mouth without any issues, which was a huge relief. For a temporary fix, this product is strong, dependable, and gave me real peace of mind. It’s not a permanent solution, but as a stop-gap before a dental appointment, it works very well and does exactly what it claims.

Does what it needs to
It works well. It is, as described, indeed temporary. Purchased for the Mrs. Did the job until the dentist could do something more permanent.

Saved me a lot of pain - and money for temp fixes
EDIT: After using this and going back to the dentist, he commented on the neat job it did and it posed no difficulty in removal. I had an accident in my past that left me with a fractured tooth. I was advised by the dentist that it would eventually fail, but as it wasn’t causing any problems, I may as well leave it and monitor it. Several years on and it caught up with me. A chunk broke off and left me with a sharp edge. The dentist did an emergency filling with an appointment for a permanent repair in 4 weeks, but within 2 days it broke out – curse my love for salted peanuts! I took a punt with this and wish I had done it earlier rather than pay for a temporary filling. It was really easy to use. Inside the pot is a little roll of a thick paste. Kind of like putty but a lot thicker and dryer. You simply use the provided tool to take a sliver off, roll this into a ball and push it into the void. There were more detailed instructions, but that was it in a nutshell. A wet finger can smooth it over and it naturally dries to a hard layer. Probably best to do it before bed so you don’t have to think about it. Recommendations – Clean your teeth and rise with mouthwash – you don’t want to trap bacteria in the gap. Don’t put too much in to start with. Get the feel of where it is before you push it in as it can be awkward if you need to use your least dominant hand and you can’t directly see it in a mirror. If you get it wrong, remove it straight away before it hardens, although not a major problem as it will eventually come out. Any overfill should be smoothed off and removed. It is only a temporary fill and not fix. It can keep food debris out, prevent anything touching a nerve and thus relieve pain. You may need to repeat application depending on where it is used. For me it was on my molar on a side that I chew the most and absentmindedly eaten on that side and broken the repair twice – will someone take these peanuts away from me! It can easily break off, but it is only designed to be a fix until you get to see a dentist within a few days. Unfortunately, whoever stated this clearly doesn’t have an NHS dentist with a backlog of 6 weeks. Bottom line – can save you a lot of pain and is a good enough fix until you can get a permanent repair. Might be something to take on holidays from now on.

Enough'a enough
I've bought this product a good few times now and I've held my tongue until now on this issue but too many times you get delivered a product that's dried up beyond the point of return. No water added will ever make it work properly and you have to buy more. Even though the product is cheap, this loop can go on forever and the product doesn't last long enough in your mouth to make it viable even when you get a good batch. Think you're better spending a bit more for something that'll actually work.

I would not recommend
I would not recommend this at all, first of all it is really hard to put this on as a temporary filling because as soon as it comes in contact with your saliva, it becomes really difficult to fix it properly into your tooth. Also, even after like the cement/filling was set, it came off for me in like 2 days and I had to do the whole thing again. I bought this thinking it would be a temporary solution until my dentist appointment, but my dentist seriously told me not to ever use this again. I also consulted another dentist friend, and he said the same thing, that you should never try to use temporary fillings like this on your own, especially if you plan to use it for a long time, because it can cause infections and your teeth might become unsalvageable. I had this on for almost one and a half weeks, and when my dentist finally opened it up, he said that the filling had made the decay or infection inside worse. That was my experience, and my dentist strictly told me never to use anything like this again. If your pain is unbearable or anything, just go to the ER and ask them to do a proper temporary filling until your GP appointment. That is the only advice I can give. I would not recommend using this. If it is just for a day or two, it might be okay, but using this as a long-term solution is likely going to cost you a lot in the future. My dentist told me, had I waited a bit longer, they would have had to remove my teeth. So this is my experience, if this helps someone.

Very Happy Customer With a Couple of Hints and Tips
I am extremely pleased with this item. I bought my first one a few months ago and a second one last week (due to leaving it at a friend's elsewhere and not being able to retrieve it quickly). The Temparin Max kit is incredibly easy to use and does a good job at filling cavities temporarily. It's not always easy to find the time (or money!) to get to a dentist, so after part of my root canal filling chipped away on one of my molars, I was looking for ways of making sure bits of food wouldn't get stuck in the gap and rot the filling or shell of my tooth further. The plastic application tool is well designed - one side is a flat 'blade' to cut off the right amount of filling material and the other side is a sort-of 'blob' for pushing the material in to the cavity. Keep in mind, however, that the tool might be a little bit too big for smaller (in diameter) and/or slightly deeper cavities. I really made sure that my mouth was as clean as possible before using the filling material - I wouldn't want any horrible bacteria growing under it. The pack gives clear instructions on keeping your mouth clean (and having washed hands) before using the Temparin Max, but I did a little more cleaning just in case... I brushed twice, taking care around the tooth I was filling, then rinsed with mouthwash. I then rinsed with warm water, more mouthwash, and warm water once more before applying the Temparin Max. Personally I'd rather go a little overboard with cleanliness than risk infection. I have used the product twice now on the same filling. Unfortunately the bank account is saying 'no' to seeing a dentist any time soon, so this is my best option currently. The pack states that it should be used for a maximum of 48 hours (and I would advise people to stick to this if possible), but the product has proven able to stay in for much longer - the first filling I did stayed in for around 5 weeks, and the second is holding strong after several days. Luckily in my case, the particular tooth I'm filling is dead after root canal treatment two years ago. A tip I would give to people is to go through the filling process before you go to bed. This gives the Temparin Max material time to dry and set in place in the tooth without being disturbed by food or drink. That way, the filling is perfectly set and ready to go by the morning. Any excess material flakes off throughout the day but the actual part I want filled stays securely in place for a long time afterwards... I've just got to avoid those toffees I love!! All in all, this is a product I would recommend!

Not good for cutting edges of teeth. More for holes in back teeth.
I must be using it wrong, take small amount using my fore finger and thumb roll it in to a ball then force in to the area in your tooth you want to fix as a temporary filling. After a day or two at most, it comes out as it breaks down in very small pieces.
