It's a fabulous bulb! - Wanted to save my old 3D cell Maglite torch. I'd got out of the habit of using it over the last few years as technology moved on and smaller torches became brighter. Recently purchased a 2 D cell LED Maglite torch for my son which was astoundingly good and very bright. Saw this bulb on desertcart and although quite expensive at £15.00 for a bulb, reckoned it was worth a punt. Got my son to try his torch in the garden at night, to compare it against my old 3 cell Maglite and his torch blew it away - his torch was extremely bright compared to mine. Then I changed to this bulb and WOW! What a transformation! My old 3 D cell torch was brighter again than the 2 cell torch my son has. It was fantastic! I was on the verge of spending £50+ to buy a new 3 D cell LED Maglite as a replacement but this bulb has blown me away and renewed my pleasure and use of my old Maglite. Expensive bulb but it saved me from an expensive replacement torch. Definitely well worth it! The nominal voltage of alkaline cells is 1.5V, but the nominal voltage of NiMH and NiCD cells is 1.2V. As 6x1.5V=9V, you should be ok using 7 NiMH or 7 NiCd cells as 7x1.2V=8.4V It should be noted that 9V blocks (PP3) use 6x1.5V cells if they are alkaline, and usually 7x1.2V cells if they are NiMH or NiCd. So again, this illustrates that 7 NiMH or 7 NiCD cells can be used instead of 6 alkaline cells. **Q: Will this fit a rechargeable maglite?** A: Didn’t fit my battery mag lite. That’s all I can say. **Q: I have a three cell mag lite which has a screw in bulb which needs replacing will this fit it?** A: My 6 cell Mag light has a plane fit bulb, not screw fit. A new lease of life for my MagLite *by A***N on 12 December 2016* I purchased this to upgrade my old MagLite 4 D cell torch. It had given years of sterling service when I was in the RAF and although it still works really well, the yellow original bulb was looking a little tired and jaded.
