With the heavy duty strim cord in short bursts with the trigger and with good face/eye protection. It will wear the cord out, a little, but for a quick cut back it worked for me. Waste of time and money. I used it on thin grass about 6 inches high and it kept cutting out after 3-4 minutes. Then had to wait for heat fuse to re-set. Did this on Strimmer wire and brush cutter blade. I'd never used even a strimmer before, but this was quite fun to use! And more importantly, it was super effective at scything through a mass of brambles that had taken over part of my garden. Only negative for me was assembly of the handle, which wasn't explained at all in the documentation provided - I only figured out how to assemble it after eventually finding a single Youtube video that showed this part. Most others skipped over it. It can also be quite heavy depending on your physical state and how long you're using it for. I'm in my 30s so it wasn't too bad even when using it for around 45m-1h, but I imagine if you're much older, then you'd probably have to use it in shorter bursts.
