Gary **Q: what material the tools are in? Are they sharp bits and is it metal heads or plastic on the saw and screwdriver and hammer?** A: The tools in the Junior Tool Box are functional tools, all tool heads are metal. The saw will work on light woods like balsa, as will all other tools within the set. Due to the nature of the tools and the fact that they are sharp the product is not suitable for children under 8 years and should always be used with adult supervision. **Q: My son is 13 and would love a carpentry set is this ok for him or is it only for young children. thanks!** A: This tool set is safe for toddlers, pretty much. More like toy tools. The best bit is the box. **Q: What size are the tools please? Eg how long is the hammer? Thanks** A: The hammer measures 8 inches (20 cms). The set is suitable for a child of about 7-8 years. No older than that. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Brilliant *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 17 April 2026* My little one loves this he always tries to pinch my tools but with these he has his own. He likes to have his own items to work on and all the tools work as they should and are the perfect size for small hands ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great set of tools for children *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 25 June 2011* I bought this set for my nephew for his birthday. It'd been on his wish list for a while and he was chuffed to bits to get it. He's been playing with it for a month or so now and he's still just as pleased. It's a solid kit with decent tools (if junior ones) in a good case. There is everything the junior handyman/demolition expert would need from hammers, saws, screwdrivers, spanners and a plane. It should be noted that these are real tools, not plastic, and are therefore sharp and potentially dangerous. My nephew is now constantly demanding extra bits of wood to shape/make/abuse so bear that in mind before you purchase as small creative minds empowered by this kit will need something to use it on other than your tables and chairs. Very highly recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great find for 5 yr old daughter *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 4 February 2015* Lovely gift for my 5 yr old. As others have said the plane is blunt - really blunt - useless. But for my 5 yr old daughter who wood works on her own this suits me entirely. My father in law says we can sharpen it later. If I was buying this for age 8 and up ( recommended age) I might expect the plane to actually work....since that's what it is being sold as?!! The rest of the kit is lovely, she is delighted so we re happy. It is the present she has most talked about after Christmas. ## Frequently Bought Together - Bigjigs Toys Junior Tool Box 28pc Carpentry Building Builders Pretend Play Construction Age 8+ - Easy Carpentry Projects for Children (Dover Children's Activity Books), cover may vary - SES Creative 00943 Woodwork Set, Beginner's Crafting Kit for Kids --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/47898093-bigjigs-toys-junior-kids-tool-set-28-piece-kit-real](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/47898093-bigjigs-toys-junior-kids-tool-set-28-piece-kit-real) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
