Yes, you are correct. That’s why the product needs to be coated with a finish. We also recommend mixing it with a water-based weatherproof glue (Titebond 3/Weldbond) for exterior use.

Can I use it for flooring wood?

You could certainly use it to fill voids in the flooring, however I doubt it would hold up to the wear and tear of walking on flooring.

Exterior use for woodpecker damage?

If you want to use it on the exterior, we recommend mixing it with some weatherproof wood glue prior to application.

I used this for a table I was refinishing that had a couple of gouges in the wood. It did really well! I would think it works for a gouge in wood flooring as well. You will need to add a small amount first, let it dry, then add another smaller amount, and keeping going till you get the desired area completely filled. Do not add too much at one time. It's important for the product to dry each time you add an amount to fill the gouge. You will need to so sand it with a higher number sand paper. It will take stain or any other product better if you use a light finishing sand paper.

Great product

This is a really great product. Does exactly what the company says it will do. I moved in to an older house where the much loved wood mantel had hundreds of pin holes I would assume for Christmas stockings etc. I very lightly sanded down the rough areas filled with the wood filler then a very lightly rub with a cloth. When dry painted the wood. Looks great no visible hole marks.

Oh man, this stuff is awesome. Easy to work with. The color matching for my project was spot on. Clean up is a breeze. I sealed with an oil based sealer that matched the flooring finish. Super duper happy.

Crap

This stuff is a good filler but applied to cracks in shingles then primed and painted but it cracks and ruins the paint job. Don’t buy for exterior shingles.
