When is the best time of year to plant the bulbs?

Autumn is the time to plant these, however you can plant them into the New Year if you want.

Do these come up anything like the pictures?

Yes they do look like they are in the pictures. They also come up every year. Daffodils get better and better. With tulips after about 3 years you are better getting new ones.

Would these be ok as a Christmas present to plant in early spring or is that too late????

Tulips don't mind being planted in January, but crocus and narcissi may not flower until the following year if you put them in any time after November. Snowdrops and aconites prefer to be planted after they finish flowering, generally in early March. Hope that helps!

You get what you pay for.

Obviously you get what you pay for and in that respect, this pack was not expensive. However, there were an enormous amount of mini bulbs (90 aliums) in one pack for example. Obviously not so many 'show bulbs' e.g. Tulips or Daffodils. All have been planted, so we will see what comes up in the Spring!
