I needed a pressure sprayer to apply some algae and mould killer to the flags on the patio. This seemed popular on this site - and cheap too - so this is what I got. And it works well enough once it's set up, but you might want to learn from my mistake and fill it with some water for a trial run before using it in anger. This isn't an expensive item and that shows in some parts. The bottle and pump bits are fine but the sprayer parts seem fragile, particularly the tube that connects the handle to the spray head; I suspect that this won't survive me accidentally treading on it, so I'll just have to be careful. Having set it up - that's not complicated and doesn't take long - I filled it with algae killer and water and thought I'd be good to go. This was a mistake - not a huge one, and soon rectified, but a mistake nonetheless. See, the thing is that even when I thought I'd set it up, I found I still needed to make adjustments. Some of the connections needed screwing up a bit tighter, and the spray head which wasn't attached correctly needed to be taken off a reconnected, and then adjusted to give the spray pattern I wanted. Making all these adjustments meant that I and bits of the garden got covered in algae killer solution, which was irritating. It would have been better if I'd put a litre of water in it first and used that to get everything set up and if you buy one of these, I'd recommend that's what you should do. But when I did get it set up and working, it was fine. Because of the fragility of that spray arm I have my doubts about how long it's going to last, but that just means I'll have to try and be less clumsy than usual when I use it. So four stars for this then; it works, I like it and for what you get for the price you pay it's fine but that concern over how long it weill last stops it from getting the full five stars.

This product has been thrown together at the factory and not checked to make sure everything is watertight. Although I checked all the fittings for tightness before I first used this , I didn't take out all the seals and "O" rings and inspect them. Hence, upon using this for the first time , several problems appeared. A couple of leaks on the lance where the seals were not seated correctly in the fitting, and a pinhole in the moulding of the trigger housing which was easily fixed with a hot screwdriver. Getting enough pressure built up to have a constant mist was impossible. The instructions stated 20 to 25 pumps would be sufficient......I was pumping about 40 times , only for the spray to turn to a dribble in less than 2 minutes.Frustrating in the least as there where no air leaks apparent, so I stripped down the pump assembly and found that the "O" ring had gone hard and was not sealing in the tube. Swapped it for the spare one that came in the spares bag and hey presto , 20 pumps did the job. For now this product is working fine, time will tell if it's up to the job. I would have given this another star if Kingfisher had some quality control at their end. Value wise you can't complain , but you shouldn't have to do someone else's job when you've bought it.

Super works well

I purchased this sprayer to replace a similar sized Hozelock sprayer which I had had for many years. The main reasons for doing so were the glowing reviews and of course the price. When it arrived it was obvious that the construction was no where near to the quality of the Hozelock. The spraying lance is nothing more than an oversized drinks straw. The pump handle has no 'feel' to it and felt loose. Perhaps explained by it's box girder style construction which no doubt saves on the amount of plastic used. The supplied carry strap is very narrow and would after prolonged use begin to cut in. Overall it felt cheap (not surprising as it was well below half the price of others) and flimsy akin to a childs toy. But as it is something that is used at most, for me, a couple of times a year I thought it would suffice. How wrong was I. Having read the advice on previous reviews, before use, I tightened everything up. Filled it with a liquid lawn moss killer and began to pump. As previously mentioned the pump lacks any positive feel, unlike my old Hozelock where you could feel the pressure building, this, for some reason, lacks this which led to, after about 5 to 10 plunges, the pressure valve letting rip and covering me in moss killer. Lesson learnt though. So I ventured onto the lawn to commence spraying. The spraying was nothing short of pathetic. No amount of adjustment to the nozzle would alter it. The next issue is that pressure was maintained for no more than 30 to 45 seconds which resulted in continual interuptions to put the unit down and pump it up again. My old Hozelock onced pressurised worked for well over 10 minutes and was capable of spraying a much greater area. I suspose it's possible I had a faulty unit, although the build quality does suggest otherwise. If you've never had any other sprayer you may consider this as adequate, especially given the price but overall this is a very poor example of a sprayer. You get what you pay for. Mine has been returned. Pay the extra and buy a Hozelock. I now have.

I have now unpacked and used this sprayer. See the attached photo for the 'bent' tube, I did manage to 'unbend' it but it still has a crease mark. When this product is packaged in China, they should be told to leave his tube loose in the box, then it wouldn't end up like this. The operation of the sprayer is good and easy. The UK supplier cannot be blamed for this minor fault.

Used it for spraying a herbicide on my lawn. Worked ok the first time and then started to leak at the connections. Replaced the rubber seals but did not solve the issue. If you are fine with it being disposable after the first use, then buy it.

Good quality and easy to operate manually.
