Newest version... why so slow
This is my third purchase of a multi region hacked Sony blueray for my main use (plus another in my bedroom that is basically never used). So I speak from experience. But for some unknown reason this one takes much longer to turn on, and an absolute eternity to read and register any disc. Every action is like wading through treacle. You expect newer players to have newer faster processors, but this is a major step backwards. Maybe Sony have made it harder for the replaced chips to process and accept the region changes, or its just a poor hack job. I use the player heavily, but when this one gives up the ghost I will consider changing brand, see if the hacked chips are better suited to another manufacturer.

Does everything as stated, works with all region DVDs
I moved country a few years back and had DVD's from another region. This plays them all, along with DVD's from other regions. Perfect for me as I did not want to dispose of my extensive DVD collection.

multi-region DVD play works!
Unlike other sellers' versions of this Sony Multi-region DVD player this one works. I haven't tested the Blu-ray functions, but it automatically plays US and UK DVDs without problems.

Be very wary...
£160 is a lot of money for a product that has lasted well short of 2 years, on arguably minimal use!Trying to get answers in regard to the problems that have arisen, particularly from the manufacturers has proved futile! The product had become particularly temperamental over the past couple of months with regard to internet connectivity. Recently it has taken to turning itself off... and sometimes, off, on and off again... WITHOUT INTERVENTION!I intended to watch a movie this morning with a message that the disc could not play, reasoning 'unsupported color'... HUH???? Indeed, I tried movies that had played without issue before on this product... and was met with the same message. These were DVD's. When I tried a bluray disc... it indeed accepted it... only to turn itself off. This same action was met upon trying another couple of bluray discs.So... £160, I think, should avail itself to a standard warranty length of 3 years!A one year warranty... I'd expect that of any £30 product from Argos (no disrespect intended)... but to reiterate... it's an awful lot of money for a product that's led a pretty lazy, carefree existence! My feeling is that is wasn't fit for (any meaningful) purpose in the first instance!I know this feedback is a drop in the ocean as huge corporations just keep rolling on but...SONY?! I AM BITTERLY, BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED IN YOU!!!

Multi-region DVD player
I'm very happy with this player, the video quality is excellent and it's internet capabilities make it a fine player. After a few months of use I bought a Philips 24" TV, an excellent little set and I was very happy with it, however when I used the DVD player for the first time after buying the TV, for some inexplicable reason the TV switched on and went into lock mode, after a few seconds it powered down and also switched off the DVD player and there is no way I can keep the TV plugged into the mains and be able to use the DVD player at the same time, the TV also switches itself on every time I use my SKY remote control so the problem obviously lies with the TV and not the DVD player but something worth noting all the same.

simple
a simple bd player , easy to use but for me the remote is very small and a bugger to use , thats just me . the machine is small and can fit nicely around your unit , my only tip buy a HDMI cable as this has a basic one . the apps that come with it are useful but nothing you already use on your tv .
