Awesome!
I love this player. Its so good! There has been a couple of times where its froze, but just taking the plug out and back in again fixes it. And it will still keep your place on the dvd youve been watching. Ive played dvds and blu rays on it, and its been flawless with that. Also the box comes with instructions on how to play other region dics which was very handy. Its quite small but quiet and sleek! The remote is really good, to get up subtitles you literally just press the button labelled subtitles and it instantly comes up. A feature that my old dvd player did not have lol.It is very user friendly and has dedicated Netflix button, so you dont have to go all through your apps to select it.As for apps, theres are many you can download onto the player and use and it all works, including amazon prime video.

A very nice DVD Bluray
A nice surprise for the price. Very nice image and a good sound. Although small and light is a great champion. I am not sure if it is totally universal. I played a DVD I bought in Hong Kong and could not watch it. The manual instructions to change the zone didn't worked. It deserves a good HDMI cable. I am using an Audioquest Chocolate HDMI and I am satisfied. There are other options and little more expensive. The remote control is small but easy to operate. I do recommend earthly to anyone who want to see a nice concert of the U2, a Opera, or something live.

Probably not worth the money if you're hoping for DLNA.
It's region free which is the main reason I bought it. But the other reason I bought it was because it's advertised as being DLNA compatible and I have a server. There is no sign of this in the menus and the Sony site isn't clear about it either. I thought there might be an app I could download but at first couldn't connect to Sony's network. I've managed to do that finally but none of the available apps are for connecting to a DLNA server. So the device seems to have been miss-sold.It does appear to support various streaming services (if you manage to connect to Sony's network) so I've increased my review to 4 stars. Pity about the lack of DLNA though.

Very pleased so far with this player
Very pleased so far with this player. Does everything it says on Amazon and manufacturer's description, straightforward to set up, and excellent picture quality. Region A BluRay discs from the US play upon operation of the colour coded buttons exactly as described and dvd Region switching functions automatically with 100% smoothness. I do recommend people download the full manual from Sony's website to obtain best use: for example to ensure older films not produced in 16:9 ratio fit the tv screen correctly. There is no fascia display but a function on the remote enables info such as time elapsed, etc, to be shown on the tv screen. The ethernet wired internet connection also functioned immediately on set up with no problems whatever and a very good search function, text typing etc, is available for such as YouTube via which picture quality is again as good as can be expected.Overall a high quality piece of kit, five stars with no major niggles. Highly recommended.

Great when it works properly
This device works as advertised in that it plays Blu-Ray and DVD discs from any country in the world. Unfortunately, it is somewhat erratic in its operation. Sometimes, part way through playing a DVD the screen will go blank and the sound will stop and then it comes back on as if it has lost its place on the disc, or like old DVD players did when they were transitioning from one layer on a dual layer disc to another. This is very annoying and seems to happen randomly. I think it only happens when playing DVDs but I cannot be sure of that at the moment. When it resumes playing it normally resumes at the point at which the screen went blank but it gets annoying to know that when watching something, say an episode of an old TV detective series, that the screen will go blank once, twice or even three times during that episode. I am now saving up to buy a more expensive model.

Works like a charm
The player does as it says it plays all region dvds and blu rays! One thing to know you have to manually switch which region to play on blu ray.

Cable short, but a good buy for the price.
A good small Blu-ray and DVD player which played other region DVDs and also (and this is often forgotten in reviews) my own DVD-R discs along with my blu-ray discs very well. The sound was a little disappointing, but that may be because I have not had time to set it up properly yet. The bit which annoyed me most was that it was supposed to have a 6-metre HDMI cable in the box. There was not! Otherwise there might have been a 5/5 rating. I am not connecting mine to the internet/wi-fi as yet. I am merely using it as a player for now. It seem a good buy for the price, to me.

Now you see those American BluRays!
If you’re in the market for a multi-region BluRay player, then you can’t go wrong with this Sony product. Low priced and compact sized (23x19x4cm), it is very easy to set up – simply connect the supplied HDMI cable to your tv and follow the onscreen instructions. Dead easy!!The different regional settings for BluRay can be changed by a switch on the remote while DVD regions are set automatically. Besides BluRay and DVDs, cd’s are also playable, plus there’s also a USB connection and a wide choice of streaming services (Netflix, YouTube, etc) though I haven’t used any of these. Top quality picture and sound, it’s ideal for the movie collector who wants to enlarge his/her library with the vast choice of items only released in the USA.
