Good generator inlet - exactly as described
Arrived as expected. Delivery was fast and good. Product is exactly as described and seems durable. It was very easy to connect to 10g stranded wire. Even easier if you use solid wire. No issues at all and works exactly as expected.A few additional comments.... you need to think about your enclosure for this. I couldn't find a junction box deep enough to leave room for the wires in the back. I decided to use a 4x4x4" PVC junction box which works well. I had to hole saw the openings for the inlet and power wires I mounted the inlet plug to the front removable cover of the box. If you don't have a hole saw a boring bit for wood should work on PVC. Rather than using the supplied screws which would need nuts or a threaded collar I drilled pilot holes and used sheet metal screws into the PVC cover to secure the inlet to the box. It all worked out well and is a clean install. However, while it wasn't hard it did take some time. Consider if it's worth saving a few bucks to do this yourself vs. buying an inlet box. They seem to run about $50+, and most of those have a door or flap to cover the plug which mine doesn't. I spent about $10 in parts + this plug, and maybe 30 mins to install it. It worked great for me, but consider your time and what tools you need or have. Buying a $50 inlet already in an enclosure may be a better option for some.

A cost effective power entry solution
This plug is well made and has a convenient cover that securely fits the entrance port, protecting against accidental touching of the contacts. It was bought to wire a connection into the house power panel from an emergency generator, and I recommend it. Here is what I didi with it: I found a 3.5-inch square galvanized electrical junction box and a similar 1.5- inch depth extender at Lowes. Assembled together, they made a handy, inexpensive housing for the plug. I also bought a round 4.25-inch blue plastic cover and cut a round 2.25-inch hole in it with a whole saw. After that, it was easy to mount the plug onto the housing and connect it to the panel with a length of 10 gauge, 4-conductor rubber coated SOOW cable. Now I can power my house with the generator as needed. FYI, I used a dual ganged 30 AMP breaker to feed the busses from the cable, and mechanically connected a safety link between it and the main breaker so that only one electrical source would feed the panel: utility company power or emergency generator, never both!!

Cost effective solution, good quality inlet, included rubber cover does the job for less $$
Cost effective solution, good quality inlet, included rubber cover does the job for less money than a spring loaded cover. I installed this in a fence and sealed up the back to an extension cord I leave in place for a generator hookup. I have a normal inlet on my house, but use a long heavy duty cord to put it away from the house when there is a prolonged outage to reduce the noise level. I have obstructions that forced me to route the cord way around the obstacles and fence, so now this cord was fed through the tight places before installing the ends. I just plug the cord into my house, go around the fence, and plug my long cord in to run on back. I used a 15’ cord on this inlet, but the direct route saves over 25’ on length it took to go around. Very happy with this purchase.

Works well especially if you want a flush mount finish.
I wanted a flush finish with the wall and still meet code. It needs to be in a box, a 4X4 metal box was my choice but plastic is fine as well. I used a standard no bracket metal box with 1/2" knock outs, box is about 2" deep. I added a 3/4" deep plaster ring designed for two sets of duplex outlets. Had a 4X4" cover plate that I punched a hole in to fit the plug, I think it was about 2.25", fit perfect. Riveted in the flanged connector. I got the one with the rubber plug purely to keep those who worry about things like this free or worry plus it is a bit more finished off. Plenty of room in this configuration to instal stranded #10 wire. If you go solid, you might want a a deeper plaster ring, HD has them up to 1.5" deep. That gives you more room. I suspect most will use solid NM type wire. The photo shows the install, using the blank plate that I punched a hole through. You can buy raised covers with the hole already there but the finish will be different, something that really is not an issue.

Well designed with a good price point!
I ordered this type gen plug from a different company. I had to return it twice because the item wasn't the same as shown in the picture. I ordered this because I needed the waterproof plug. I just finished installing this on a transfer switch. Well made, came with self tap screws and metric screws (but no nuts) and it even fit both my L14-30 gen cords. One was a Leviton and other was a Journeyman Pro. Rubber cover locks very tight on the receptacle. Will also handle 8ga wire. It needs a 2 1/4" hole.
